Exactly, although I think Nolan is overrated so unless Cruise was in his film I doubt I'd watch it. =) I agree Sly, Arnold, Willis (in his prime) never did anything like Cruise is doing now, well Cruise has actually been doing insane stunts for well over a decade. He may be crazy out of a movie set in a different way, but he is cinemas greatest show (when it comes to action). Willis is probably the biggest "wimp", relying on stuntmen even for ordinary fight scenes.

I admit, it was a long while ago and in a book I held in my hands- so no link to be given, but in the article, they discussed the idea of Dr.Jekyll (Russell Crowe) being sort of a Nick Fury to all these monsters, so he may not have his own movie but there will be a few scenes in each of the other movies. I hope that it turns out that way, because he's one of my favorite actors and it would make Tom Cruise bearable, to get Crowe in there. And as for the shared universe, I really hope they keep DRACULA UNTOLD in there, as there is some set-up in the final scene and Luke Evans was an excellent Vlad. I don't know if there has been another actor cast as Mr.Hyde, or if they are going to have Crowe play both sides. I don't know who all on here browses Tumblr, but someone took a freeze frame of an image in the new TV spot/extended trailer, of a skull suspended inside water/gel. The skull has fangs that look straight out of a vampire film. It was pointed out that THE MUMMY could hint at there being vampire out there, or may outright say it at some point in the film. At the very least, this group Dr.Jekyll works for, seem interesting. I also love Russell Crowe, and I love this idea if executed well. I'd like a werewolf film.

It could be worth seeing, although I'm still iffy on them making a new shared universe out of the "Universal" monsters, especially given that these character are all in the public domain.

Not sure why anyone would be "iffy" over the Universal Monsters Shared Universe since they started it first way back when =).

Looks like another Tom Cruise action movie. Doesn't look bad though, I might see it at the theater.

I'll be in the theatre watching, despite Cruise. I think that last time I actually liked a character he played and cared what happened to that character, was MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 (granted, I think I'm 1 of 5 people who liked that movie as a whole). I'll be there because 1)the whole idea of a female mummy is awesome [recent reading has revealed part of her backstory is that her father promised to let her be his heir/the next Pharaoh, but when one of his wives has a son, papa changes his mind] because there are some elements they can use with that idea that haven't been explored with male mummies [funny, we get a female mummy and they drop the love story angle for WHY the mummy got cursed] 2)because Russell Crowe is in it as some sort of tourguide-to-the-scary-world for Cruise/etc./audience, 3)Dr.Jakyll will be a character in this to help with the whole 'expanded and shared universe' Universal is planning, and 4)I hear there is a scene where Crowe beats Cruise up, so there's always that to look forward to.

I wish this the best of luck. But the biggest thing that seems to be missing is the seeming lack of a similar love story/triangle. Audiences loved the chemistry between Fraser and Weisz, and the triangle with the mummy, though the sequel just went and invalidated that.
