......but initially, only had enough Uranium/Plutonium for just ONE bomb to be used on ONE of their enemies when it was finally ready (and let's just say, their 'ready date' would have been sometime in late 1943......so, just a few months before they actually ended up surrendering), who do you think the Germans would have targeted, and what specific city, or region, do you think they might have dropped it on, had they somehow accomplished this feat ?? The Germans surrendered in 1945. So it would be a year and a half from late 1943.
Options...
a. In Spring, 1944, the Soviets utterly destroyed Army Group Center and poured through the gap. The bomb target would be the concentration of Soviet forces headed towards Warsaw. Or in 1945 the concentration of Soviets in Poland could be the target, but they would be closer to Germany. Killing 100k Russians wouldn't stop them, though.
b. Normandy - the Allies landed on a wide front, so one bomb wouldn't get them all. Destruction of the Mulberries could slow down the invasion and breakout. But an attack on the western Allies means the Soviets would be the ones who occupy Germany.
c. London - Hitler was initially hopeful the British would join him against the Soviet Union. Years later he seemed resentful that Britain would survive the war when Germany would not. Most of the casualties would be civilians, although it's possible the British high command could be affected. But this target would just be sour grapes. Then again, Hitler was willing to destroy Paris. With only one bomb, any target would simply delay the inevitable and certainly infuriate the Allies. But I think a is the most likely option and the one which German generals would support.

Assuming they have by 1943, which is completely unrealistic, their best chances would be to use it against the Russians and bluff the western allies with threats of additional atomic bombings against the West if they don't sign a peace treaty or an armistice.
That being said; Berlin will probably be the target of Little Boy.

That being said; Berlin will probably be the target of Little Boy. I could certainly see Berlin being a main target as well.

SAVE FERRISLondon, most likely. It was the biggest allied city within easy range of German bombers and/or missiles. If they could come up with a way to launch it at New York or Washington DC, they'd likely do that instead. There were German plans for trans-atlantic bombers and submarine-launched V2s, but they were pretty speculative. Also worth noting, none of this would help Germany. Nuke London or New York, and it's really not going to stop the war effort.

If I were him, I'd target the city that would make the biggest psychological impact on the world, that means London and then bluff and say they had far more bombs than that.
Not that it would make any difference. Germany had already lost the war by then. Not due to lack of war engines, but due to lack of oil to fuel them.
The attack on Soviet was a last (failed) gambit they made to get that resource. After that it was just a question of time.

It's an interesting question. London seems the most sensible target, but knowing Hitler he might have ordered to use it on Berlin, destroying the German capital entirely in an act of collective suicide, so it wouldn't fall into the hands of the allies. Although whether his orders would've been followed is an entirely different question of course.

London. New York or Washington would have been the ideal target, but the Luftwaffe had no way to deliver it. I suppose they could have accelerated the Amerikabomber program. My understanding was that Germany scrapped their plans for a trans-Atlantic bomber because they didn't have the A-Bomb.
I don't understand why the Luftwaffe never destroyed Moscow. It was bombed, but Moscow never suffered like London or Rotterdam. And they certainly were within range.

What would have been more detrimental to the various powers' war efforts? A nuclear attack on London that killed the monarchy, Parliament, and Churchill? Or a nuclear attack on Moscow that killed Stalin and the Politburo?
