So I'm gearing up for St. Paddys Day to get my annual viewing of:
Boondock Saints The Departed State of Grace Millers Crossing
in.....but I always top it off with Piranha 3D to kick off the Spring Break Season flowing into the summer/Shark Season.
Thoughts on Piranha 3D?
Fun ride with hot babes on the beach in bikinis with killer fish - gets me in the mood for a 'beach weather' after a long cold dark brutal winter - 7.5/10 Beers

I think it's called 3DD because tits. It's not as good as the original but it's fun and has tits. Definitely better than Boondock Saints which is a shameless attempt to rip off Tarantino movies but without the talent needed. It's like some hack wrote a really bad fanfic of a QT movie and then got drunk and thought he had talent and directed the bad fanfic while still drunk. Maybe you have to be Irish and/or drunk to enjoy it tho.
Millers Crossing is awesome enough to erase the BS stench from your party so there's that. 10/10

Yeah - I'm 'American' I guess - but grandparents are all Irish from Donegal - love St. Paddys Day
Boondock Saints is a 'fun ride' if you take it for what it's worth just like Piranha.........
St. Paddy's Day to me signifies the beginning of Spring by my way.........

I love the good version of Piranha. You know, the Joe Dante one.

I love the good version of Piranha. You know, the Joe Dante one. I read the novel recently. John Sayles wrote it too.
Breezy read.

I. Friggin'. LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! It was suspenseful, shocking, gory and funny! It was original, not a remake of the older movie, so you couldn't even predict what would happen. Being a new story, you can't possibly hate it for being a remake of a beloved classic. Saw it in theaters in 3D at the time, a great day at the cinema. That Piranha 3DD, though, that was a letdown.

Yeah, 3DD was godawful and annoying. I really had a hard time getting through that one.

I had no idea there was a novel. Neither did I until a few months ago.
"The last wet-suited tourist in line suddenly felt one of his flippers loosening, and in an economic movement he turned in the water and brought his foot up to adjust it, a stream of bubbles rushing from his air-tank. Tightening the flipper, he glanced back through his mask the way he had come—and saw something. Peering harder into the murky water, his eyes suddenly widened and bulged out of their sockets as he saw what it was. Fish. A whole school of them, moving as though with one mind through the dark water, straight towards him. But they weren’t ordinary fish. Their open mouths were lined with teeth—teeth that looked like twin rows of murderous needles— The sight of the piranha held him rigid for a few seconds—and that was too long. Before he knew what was happening, and before he could do anything to warn his friends, the shoal was sweeping over him. Swarming, they covered him—and as he opened his mouth to scream, losing his air tube and gulping water, the lake around him began to churn wildly."
"Unconcernedly, the fisherman finished his baiting, and stood up to make his cast. The line flicked through the air in a glitter of silver and splashed into a rolling wave. It sank into the green water, drifting down, down through the turbulence to the cool, still depths below, where it hung tantalisingly, a lure that no fish could resist, hopefully. And it wasn’t long before something did come investigating. Or rather, several things. Ten or fifteen or them, swimming in from the darkness deeper out in the sea, nosing around the hook, looking, as they were forever looking, for something to satisfy their insatiable appetite. Snapping, their needle-sharp teeth demolished the bait in seconds, breaking the line and sending the hook spiralling down to the sand at the bottom. Then realising that there was nothing more for them here—that they must look elsewhere for better prey—the survivors of the piranha shoal swam on along the quiet, peaceful coastline."

I'm a fan of the series... "3D" despite it's humor has it's share of poignant and tense moments. I felt bad for the Spring Breakers once the frenzy begins. I wanted the main characters to make it.
the only one I don't own is the 1995 made for TV version. Never watched it. Heck even "part 2" is pretty decent given the premise.
"Piranha 3DD" is very disappointing to me... Not only is it goofy and lower scale it feels like the Suits cut out half the movie. But I still watch it.
I thought there was to be an Asian "Piranha" film. But havent read anything about it in a long time. I assumed it was to be part of the franchise.

It's adequate, very much a remake of the original.

Dumb but fun when you're in the right mood. Kelly Brook should had been in more movies.

I'd have to say the new version is far more entertaining than the original 70s film. Normally I can't stand actor Jerry O'Connell, but his sleazy movie producer is a laugh. A repeater.

There's a good version of Piranha?
The original is a mediocre Jaws knockoff. The remake is a Syfy channel movie with tits. Let's not talk about either sequel.
