What's the best version of this often visited trope of the supposedly phony and fun threat of a haunted house attraction becoming a real threat in a horror movie?
Just last year we had Hell Fest and Blood Fest which were both mediocre in different ways but fun enough to pass some time. I'm quite sure this has been done a million times, but the other most recent examples I can think of are Hell House LLC, which is a somewhat different approach, it's sequel which I haven't seen, The Houses October Built, which is more similar to Hell House LLC, and The Funhouse Massacre which is much closer to the Hell Fest and Blood Fest type of typical rip off of Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse.
This is an obvious idea, but I haven't seen a better than mediocre version of it.

I have seen so many of these with almost the same name, that I dont remember which is which. I do remember that I did somewhat enjoy Blood Fest (2018)

I have seen so many of these with almost the same name, that I dont remember which is which. I do remember that I did somewhat enjoy Blood Fest (2018) Blood Fest was fairly entertaining, but the self referential horror movie fan living out a horror movie scenario and surviving by being able to analyze it is now a worn out trope of its own. Still somewhat enjoyable all the same. Any others of note come to mind?

I enjoyed "The Funhouse Massacre" and "House of fears" for what they were. "Blood Fest" was too goofy to me. Have not watched "Hell Fest".

I haven’t seen any of those recent amusement park horror films, but I watched ‘Scream Park 2012’ couple years back. Basic low-budget slasher fodder set In an amusement park after hours with the usual cameo appearance of a horror icon (Doug Bradley). Very run of the mill, but it did have a couple inventive moments and gory kills.

Today I saw Hell Fest. It was an enjoyable slasher. Yeah, it was alright. You can essentially predict 90% of what's gonna happen, but it did try to subvert a cliche here and there and I think you can tell that it was directed by an editor since it moves along at a good pace and has pretty tightly put together set pieces. The ending is weird and, I guess, sets up a sequel, but the revelation of who he is without actually revealing anything seemed a little pointless. It was pretty ordinary, but made with some skill.
