Best Cinematography, Editing, Makeup/Hairstying and Live-Action Short Film. This naturally made me angry, but I guess I should also be relieved that it's only 4. When they announced this idea a while ago, it sounded like more than half of the categories would suffer this fate.

I don't like this either. I like to see everything. Why not start the ceremony earlier if they're so worried about running overtime?

Lotta upset people on twitter and rightfully so. Having best cinematography in commercials whilst best song gets live viewing? Nonsense

I'd consider Cinematography and Editing as being in the top 7 most important awards (at least) so this is dumb.

Easier ways to cut time:
* No more bits where they bring regular people into the show. No more pizza men, no more girl scouts, no more tourists, etc.
* Cut the scripted banter. Literally nobody thinks it's funny, and it just eats up time.
* No full musical performances. Just play a short audio clip of the songs as they are announced as nominees.

They've reversed their decision! Facing mounting pressure from its members, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Friday announced that it will present all 24 Oscar categories live during the Feb. 24 broadcast on ABC. The Hollywood Reporter
