Overall I liked Breaking Bad. It kept my attention throughout its entire run. Bryan Cranston gave a great performance and there were some really good episodes. However, I would agree it tends to fall into the overrated category. Especially because it’s praised so highly by so many. I'm sure it's good. I just wasn't feeling it. It can be pretty slow at points, and Anna Gunn just pisses me off

"This Is Us" might well keep me until it ends because I'm nosy and have to find out how things end.
But it has annoying qualities. That musical score gets too intrusive and plays on your emotions too much.
And with all the flawed characters, good and bad, we're supposed to care how they play off each other and how they ended up the way they did. And to explain them they keep introducing more characters from their origins. And more flashbacks.
Characters are budding off each other like some out of control organic thing. First it's one family, the Pearsons. Then it's Randall's biological father. Then it's Deja, which drags her mother into it. Then it's Jack's brother. Then Jack's father, whom we'll probably hear more about. Then Toby's family. Then Randall's wife Beth's sister Zoe. Now they're about to introduce Zoe and Beth's friggin' mother!
Ridiculous. I don't want to get wrapped up in the backgrounds of a million characters. Just pick a few that we most care about.

I have wanted to watch The Sopranos for years and just recently finally decided to dive in. I'm about six or seven episodes into the first season, and I gotta say I'm not that impressed. It's okay, but not mind-blowingly good. The first season seems a little amateurish to be honest. I don't even know if I am going to bother with it after the first season.
I was also dying to watch Game of Thrones and was insanely disappointed in that. I stopped watching after the first season. If there wasn't nudity and lots of blood, that show wouldn't even still be on.

Game of Thrones and The Sopranos mentioned. Two of the top four TV series of all time. Yeah, really overrated *eyeroll. Also, The Office is one of the greatest comedy shows ever made. Just title the thread, "Great shows that I do not like for some reason." I agree. There's no such thing as "overrated." That's just code for "I didn't like it as much as other people, and they're wrong for feeling that way." Unless there are some objective metrics, everything is rated just as it should be. There's no code, it just means, or is a short convenient way of saying "I personally don't think this is as good as the general consensus does" which the OP explains in their first post. No one is wrong or right, because like "good" and "bad", "underrated" and "overrated" are subjective terms.

I didn’t enjoy Breaking Bad as much as other people seemed to. I think there are better shows of the same genre. It’s still good but I didn’t think it got great until later, like season 4.
That’s prob the closest one to overrated that I’ve got.

I couldn’t warm up to “Twin Peaks”. Watched the first season, and no further.

Think this is the fifth version I've seen of this thread. The most overrated show of all time is Firefly because it's rated so highly and kind of sucks. Generally if something sucks I try to ignore it but if you want to see some bad television just watch anything on the free networks.

I would also add How I Met Your Mother. I bailed some time BEFORE the end.

I gave up on Breaking Bad after the first five episodes. I don’t like BB much but Better Call Saul, a BB spin-off, is very good IMO.

The Wire - At the end of the first season I still didn't know what the hell was going on. Wat I get not liking what was going on but what was confusing about it and especially since each season basically reset.

I couldn’t warm up to “Twin Peaks”. Watched the first season, and no further. Nobody "warms up" to Twin Peaks, it's too disturbing.
