I have seen them all, and while THE FAVOURITE and ROMA, both of which are excellent, appear to be the front runners, I think the wonderful, Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali-starring, Peter Farrelly-directed road tripping comedy drama GREEN BOOK is going to defy the odds and take home the big prize.
Which of the 8 films have you seen? And which one do you think is going to win?

I’ve seen all except blackklansmen and vice. A star is born is meh. Outside of Rami Malik’s performance, Bohemian Rhapsody sucks. Black Panther is a fun superhero movie, but that’s it. It ain’t best picture material. Green Book is mediocre and pure Oscar bait. I haven’t seen either of them, by Blackklansmen and Vice also look like Oscar bait. The only correct choices are the Favourite and Roma, with my preference for the Favourite.
I imagine A Star is Born will win it.
When you got movies like Tom Cruise in them, you can't lose!
SEARCHING is certainly an exciting, original and technically innovative film, but I have to ask you Drac. Which of the 8 nominated movies have you seen, and have you seen LEAVE NO TRACE, EIGHTH GRADE and IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK?
I guess I'm just a simple soul with no tertiary education and middlebrow tastes Stewie Baby, but I loved it with a passion deep and true and believe every frame in the picture is steeped in sincerity and humanity. Plus, I enjoyed it even more the second time I watched it. Like I said, I am no intellectual, but GREEN BOOK worked for me and it stands tall among the 12 000 plus films I have seen in my life.
I haven’t seen either of them, by Blackklansmen and Vice also look like Oscar bait.
Blackklansmen is a funny, shocking, involving, clever, satirically sharp and angry film which ultimately shows why the amoral, narcissistic, sleazy conman and elderly, overweight shady white businessman like Trump was elected president of the USA. I found it fascinating, funny, scary and thought provoking. I urge you to watch it. VICE is a riot, and like Blackklansmen it has something to say about the horrifying, scary political mess America is currently in.
I want Black Panther to win, but I think it is going to be Roma or that made up story about Queen.
And I want GREEN BOOK to win hiraganakanji, but we can't always get we want. However, if it is any consolation, BLACK PANTHER - a made up story about an imaginary superhero based on a comic book, certainly has a (long) shot at winning.
Am I the only one who thought Eighth Grade was complete garbage?
Green Book has controversy issues, sadly.
Bohemian and Roma are the only two I haven't seen. Bohemian didn't even get great reviews. I've heard Roma is really boring. People in the industry are not a fan of the direct to Netflix model, so that might hurt it. Mexican immigration is such a hot button issue right now though, so this is my runner up pick.
I really enjoyed Black KKKlansman but I mean, it's pretty hokey. I'm surprised it's even nominated.
The Favourite is my favorite of them all, but I just don't see it winning Best Picture. It's too dark and weird and it's #OscarsSoWhite bait.
Black Panther; a comic book movie's lucky as hell to be nominated, no way it wins.
My money is on A Star is Born. It's the safe, easy bet. It's the movie perfectly engineered to win awards.
