...after earning $1.2 million on tour? ftw.usatoday.com/2019/02/matt-kuchar-caddie-mayakoba-5kContrary to this article, I don't think $5000 for a week's work is "embarrassing." You're telling me that if someone gave you 5 grand for handing them some golf clubs over a few days, you'd be outraged?

You're right, getting $5000 for a week's worth of work ain't bad, but c'mon....
You give a waitress at a Dennys at least a 10% tip, 20% if she's got nice tits, you can give a temp caddie who helped you win 1.2 million bones a bit more than $5000.

Not sure you have much understanding of what a top class caddie does if you think he just hands over some golf clubs.

Normal caddie fee is 10% of the winnings. At that his replacement caddie should have gotten $120,000. I'm really disappointed in Kooch, who I've always liked and thought of as one of the good guys on tour. I hope there's more to this story.

This guy was a temp caddie filling in for a week, and they had a pre-arranged agreement as to the salary beforehand. This salary was apparently fine with both parties initially. Who is a caddie to turn his nose up at $5000?

Who is a caddie to turn his nose up at $5000? No one's questioning the salary. They are questioning his decision to keep 100% of his victory winnings. The caddy ended up with 0.38% of that amount.

So basically you're complaining that Kuchar didn't tip well. Tipping is optional, and maybe the caddie did a lousy job?

If caddies had a Union this would’ve never happened.

For reputation damage limiting rather than because he feels he should though.

Besides, what the hell is $50,000 to a rich guy like Kooch? Before long he'll be lumped in with other notorious bad tippers....like liberals and Hollywood personalities.

For reputation damage limiting rather than because he feels he should though. Probably for his sponsors saying to him "we don't want some fucking tight-wad representing us".

Because when rich conservatives are crappy tippers - or pay to lobby against raising the minimum wage, or cut employee hours at Walmart to make sure they have no health coverage - the general public doesn't know who the hell they are, so it's not going to be spread across social media.
