Several episodes into season 2 and there doesn't seem to be any discussion here...
I am not seeing much of an improvement over season 1 so far. At least it looks like they are going to drop the entire ill-conceived "mycellian space" idea soon, which is great since it made "Doctor Who" sound like hard sci-fi.

I'm not, no. I really enjoyed the first season, but I don't want to pay. I'm subscribed to 4 streaming services as it is. Here in Canada it is available on one of my regular cable channels, so that's not an issue for me. Outside North America season 1 was streamed on Netflix. Not sure if it is still the case for season 2.

They made a huge mistake of putting it on a pay channel.

I'm not a trekkie/trekker(?) so whatever faults those fans had with season 1 as it related to the Star Trek universe didn't affect my enjoyment of the show. I finally got around to watching the season 2 opener yesterday and will continue to watch.

They made a huge mistake of putting it on a pay channel. Doing that is literally the only reason they made the show.

I can't watch the show online. If SEASON 2 is released on DVD next year, like SEASON 1 was released a couple of months ago, I'll watch it then...
If they don't release it on DVD, then I won't be watching it at all, and I won't worry about it, because I don't think the show is all that great.

I'm watching season 2 and I'm liking it, it's more trek-like than the first season and there are some interesting ideas with the whole intersection of science & religion theme.

I am. Discovery had a much better first season than most other Treks (except TOS) and so far, a much better second season than most other Treks (except TOS).

Name some better first/second seasons. TNG, VOY and ENT had notoriously terrible first couple of seasons. All of them. Discovery's first season was the worst Trek ever made, period. Season 2 I couldn't speak to, because I've only watched one episode, but it was also terrible.

I read somewhere that Discovery has been officially renewed for a third season.
