I watched this recently funny enough. A worthy contender for the goriest movie of all time. But the OP is referring to gory horror films being made in this time era. I know, but I couldn't resist mentioning it, since there is no point making a film gory just for the sake of it. Brain Dead aka Dead Alive, was meant to be gory for the sake of it and it took Jackson's wry and dry wit to pull it off and this is not an easy feat.
We had some excellent horror comedies with gore in the 80's, but nothing to this extent. Yeah. I kind of wish that we could go back to making those types of movies nowadays.

Todd Sheets... well that depends for your tolerance of micro-budget horror. One of his latest films; ‘Dreaming Purple Neon’ was stemming with over-the-top splatter.
I need to check out his latest, 'Bonehill Road' (2017).
It was quite decent. Definitely worth-a-look.
