Their first album was in 1969 and they kept releasing albums every year or every two years. Almost all of them have sold at least platinum until the nineties. That was a great run in terms of commercial success.
I've never listened to their albums but I like the hits until the adult contemporary 80s stuff.

Yeah, they've enjoyed a sort of quiet popularity over the years.
Their first three albums were 2-LPs each. The fourth one was a live 4-LP album. That was kind of unusual since most groups didn't have that much material so soon.
I only ever had the first and fourth albums. Never bought them on CD. So I don't know anything about the later 20+ albums. That Carnegie Hall live album also featured a photo book and wall posters including the largest one I ever had.

I like the consistency of their cover art, don't know if I've heard anything by them. certainly haven't listened to an album.  |

Liked a few songs while Terry Kath was alive. Thought they were pretty lame after that. They were about as interesting as their album titles.

Chicago also puts on a hell of a good concert. I've seen them twice so far.

They were very good up to Terry Kath’s death in 78. Great horns and not many bands where three members sang lead vocals. Then got lame in the Peter Cetera 80’s adult contemporary era.

I'd find it hard to be a Chicago fan because of their 80s output which just isn't my thing and they always seemed to be trend followers rather than trend setters. But 25 or 6 to 4 is awesome.

Yeah, make no mistake, there was the 70s Chicago and then the 80s Chicago.
The 70's Chicago was pretty damn great. Terry Kath was a monster guitar player.
