their sites popularity has went downhill drastically since the removal of their message boards I could see them opting to bring them back in the next three-four years

No. It was too big a decision and so heavily publicized that to turn back now, I think it'd make them and by extension Bezos seem weak or inconsistent.

No, I expect more suppression of opinions on the internet not less.

No. Unless they employed full time moderators and an Admin and put phone and credit card verification on people's accounts it would only go back to being the same cesspool many boards had become before it was closed down. I miss some of the members I used to talk to on the old IMDB boards that didn't make the move to here and having individual boards for TV shows but I wasn't upset when it closed down 'cause too many people were ruining it for others.

I agree. The boards became too big and too bloated and too many users were only interested in trolling the place. If the boards came back they'd have to spend a lot more money on staff (and possibly a legal team).

It’s not gonna happen, and I feel upset about it.

Probably not. If anything, expect more similar board sites to be removed as well, as the powers of Hollywood slowly take over the internet and control the discussion.

It’s not gonna happen, and I feel upset about it. That's okay, we have MovieChat remember? You do use it, right? If we get as many people on there as possible and get some decent activity going, we won't ever need IMDb back.

No, of course not. For three reasons: - The IMDb exists to sell product for Amazon.com. Go a movie, e.g., Upgrade (2018), and you'll see a link to "Watch Now From $14.99 (SD) on Prime Video". How does having a message board on the IMDb help Amazon sell product? It doesn't.
- Given how Disney just forced Rotten Tomatoes to remove the Audience "Want to See" percentage, it's clear that the biggest studio in town doesn't like internet users being able to express their opinions and create bad buzz for their movies.
- See item 1.

While trolling was definitely a problem, I feel that was a scapegoat in their decision to remove the boards. I think there were too many people speaking out against Hollywood's movies that they decided to take action and remove the boards. That way they could get people to move to places like reddit for to talk about movies, a site that is filled with shills who control the discussion. If you think about it, YouTube has "individual boards" too, for each video. Many of them filled with trolls, racists, sexists and just ignorant and dumb people in general, which is just as bad, if not worse than the type of people that could be found on the IMDb boards. Yet there is no full time moderators on there right? And that's Google, one of the biggest companies in the world. I think something that big is too hard to moderate. Have you checked out MovieChat yet? It is the successor to the IMDb boards.

It's like people who join a multiplayer game server and then instantly leave when they see there are only a few players in there instead of waiting a short while for it to fill up. Where do you go to discuss a particular movie/TV show?

No, never. I love message boarding and prefer it to all other social media, but it's a thing of the past. Sadly.

If I try to make a thread on a board for a particular movie/show chances are I might not get many replies. What’s the point of making a discussion when you have almost no one to discuss it with?

Reddit movie section has a lot of individual movie discussion threads that I've used.
