What happened to Sara Morales & Yeremi Vargas?
On Sunday 30th of July 2006, 14 year old Sara Morales left her home in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, to meet a friend at a shopping mall less than a mile away. Sara wouldn’t make it to the mall and no trace of her has ever been found. Sara has brown hair, brown eyes and was wearing a yellow tank top, shirt denim skirt and silver trainers (sneakers). She was also wearing glasses. Her friends would continue to call her cell phone, which would keep going to voicemail. And at five thirty that evening the friend went to her house to inform her parents Sara never showed up. I couldn’t find out what time Sara left for the shopping mall, but information I’ve found suggests it was about a twenty minute walk from her home to the mall
Immediately her parent knew something was off, she had never run away and would alway call to let them know if she was going to be later. The only items Sara left with was her house keys, cell phone and a small amount of money. Police were called and searched began but nothing of Sara was to be. And still hasn’t been found.
In March 2010 police searching for Sara found skeletal remains in an abondoned well in Valle de Jinámar which is roughly 9 miles from Las Palmas. But the remains turned out to be that of an animal and the search for Sara continues. This July will mark 13 years since she vanished. Police have vowed to not close the case. But without any evidence or information the investigation is at a stand still.
On March 10th 2007 seven year old Yermi Vargas was playing outside his grandmothers house in Vecindario, a village in Gran Canaria. She called Yeremi and his cousins in for lunch, the other children ran in, but Yeremi wasn’t with them. After checking the neighbourhood, his family called the police who promptly blocked the island. Checking airports, ports searching any boats that had arrived on the island that day. Boats that left the island were searched when they reached their destination. But to no avail. Yeremi remains missing. His mother, Ithaisa Suarez, describes him as a shy boy who wouldn’t go with strangers. So traumatised by her sons disappearance she has had to sedated.
There has been some movement in Yeremi’s case in 2015 Spanish police stated that they wanted to to travel to Scotland to interview two paedophiles, who are currently serving life for the 1997 murder of a woman. Both men ran a business near the village where Yeremi went missing. As of today I haven’t saw much movement on this.
Forgive me if I get the next part a little incorrect. My basic Spanish is well basic and google translate was my only friend
A man has recently been convicted of a 2012 sexual assault on a young boy. The man Juan Ordeja Bordón is from the same village as Yeremi. From what I have read he was “bragging” about what happened to Yeremi. But police having no eveidence and no confession from Ordeja or El Rubio has he has been dubbed in the media they have little to go on.
Police do not believe Sara and Yeremi’s cases to be related but in a small island their disappearances have been widely felt.
