Blondie. The Cars' debut is pretty fucking great though. Their debut is basically a greatest hits album, so many catchy radio staples on that one.

Tough call. Gotta go with The Cars. Blondie's hits are awesome, but the most of the rest of her material is forgettable. The Cars, on the other hand...The debut, Candy-O, Panorama, Shake It Up...all really good albums from start to finish, hits or not.
IMHO of course.
(Heartbeat City, you say? Meh.)

Can any of you do the Rapture rap from Blondie? I'd bet a lot of us can. The question is who is willing to admit it?

Very good question, two very good bands of their time.
The Cars debut album is so good, though, plus they're a Boston band, plus they had a left-handed guitarist, which is even cooler.

Blondie. I don't know how much input she has in the writing of her songs. I don't follow these people, but her songs are some of the best.
The Cars are really good. Like REO, their first album sucked, but they proved to be better when they got the chance to be artists. "Drive" is probably their best song. "I Love the Night Time Baby" is up there. They have two or three top songs.
Blondie has too many great songs to mention. Her musical accompaniment is outstanding. Just great music.

Should've done a poll. Blondie, but it's very, very close

"Drive" is probably their best song. That song is called "Let's Go," and it's night life, not night time. Two or three top songs? I bet I can list much more than that off the top of my head: Let's Go Shake It Up Just What I Needed Best Friend's Girl Bye Bye Love Touch and Go Moving in Stereo You're All I've Got Tonight Candy-O Dangerous Type It's All I Can Do Looking for Love Magic You Might Think Drive [barf] Let's try anyway... Heart of Glass One Way or Another Dreaming Rapture Call Me ...and some lesser known hits: Maria Rip Her to Shreds Hanging on the Telephone Did I miss any?

Heart of Glass One Way or Another Dreaming Rapture Call Me ...and some lesser known hits: Maria Rip Her to Shreds Hanging on the Telephone Did I miss any? There you go. All eight of the Blondie songs are inspired and inspiring, hard hitting, emotion packed songs. Meanwhile, you name off a bunch of ditties from the Cars. Four of them are good enough to compare to the inspiration of Blondie's hits: Drive, Lets Go, You Might Think, and Dangerous Type. The others are just irritating ditties with no heart or soul. They sound like something someone makes up in the shower. Those four "good ones" are not quite as inspiring as at least five of the Blondie songs (Maria, Call Me, Heart of Glass, Rapture, The Tide is High) The Cars do have more theatrics and oomph and adventure and excitement and emotion than most groups, but are lackluster next to Blondie.

Total snoozefest.

Blondie was the first musical act I ever liked. Back when I was a kid in the early 80s my dad had Parallel Lines on cassette. I wore it out and she’s still a favorite of mine.
While I like some songs by the Cars, to me my favorite thing about them is the use of their song “Moving in Stereo” during the Phoebe Cates scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Greatest scene ever!
