Claire, Ciara, and Tripp all have their own rooms in their apartment.
Why did Claire feel it was necessary to bring her jewelry box out of her room and into the shared area to look at the lighter?
It seems like any time they want someone to get information from Claire, she is doing something stupid OUTSIDE of her bedroom like making an incriminating phone call, or sleeping with Tripp.
This writing is just painful...

That was definitely stupid. Somewhat explained by the fact that Ciara's room is the only room in the place they have a set for, but then just don't write that dumb scene or at least don't do it that way. Equally stupid is why she would keep this lighter to begin with, or why she would feel jumpy about being seen with a lighter, when no one would reasonably make the jump of "Hey is that lighter? Wait, did you use that to burn down the cabin a year ago?" It's a typical Zippo lighter.
