Don't celebrate Lent, but I do kinda like it because it means McDonalds sells their Filet O fishes for less Actually, Lent was the reason McDonalds came up with Filet O Fish in the first place.

Second Friday of Lent Brothers and Sisters.
Please remember the victims and loved ones of the awful violence in New Zealand in your prayers today.
Best wishes to everyone fasting and/or praying the Stations of the Cross today ✝️
Peace be with you 🙏

Hot Cross Buns. They are only available in my area during Lent and I love them.

Third Friday of Lent.
Hope it's going well for everyone... I'm doing OK with it. I have stumbled a few times, but have got back up, and keep pressing on.
We are all human, none of us is perfect, sure as himself knows that... Looking forward to Mass this morning, the vineyard parable so it is, very relevant.
Best wishes to everyone fasting and/or praying the Stations today ✝️
Peace be with you 🙏

Basically, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are compulsory 'fast days' for all healthy enough Roman Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59... Many also fast on every Friday in Lent. Put simply, just one simple meal on a fast day... I will not eat mine until after performing Stations of The Cross at St. Bernards this evening. It also helps towards our Lenten charity commitment... Money not spent on food by Catholics last Friday was collected at Sunday Mass last week as a donation to CAFOD to feed others in need.

These are things that every Christian might benefit by doing. I am curious about the age bracket for fasting. Why not include those over 59, and perhaps a bit younger than 18? Mormons celebrate the first Sunday of the month as Fast Sunday, and are supposed to forgo two meals. The equivalent cost of those meals is given as a "fast offering" that goes into a fund to feed the poor. Those not in good health and excluded, as well as very young children. I remember participating from about the age of 6.

St Bernards junior school of our parish observes the fast days, but instead of no lunchtime meal, they have a half sized meal, growing children and all that.

Fourth Friday of Lent.
Hope Lent is going well for everyone.
Best wishes to everyone fasting and/or praying the Stations today... and to all attending Mass. Jesus tells us the two most important things today, to love God, and that you must love your neighbour as yourself. I would be interested to hear anybody's reflections on today's gospel, Mark 12:28-34
Peace be with you 🙏🏼

Saints alive! Just back from Mass 😯 Turned up for usual Friday Morning Mass at 9 o'clock... usual half a dozen faithful sat waiting. All of a sudden, hundreds of primary school kids come in to church... It's their last day of school before Easter, they are at St Bernards for a special school Palm Sunday Mass. I felt it would be rude to leave.... It went on and on with singing, lots of singing, so much singing, readings, Fr Cosmas doing audience interaction, and an actual re-enactment of Jesus entering Jerusalem... The wafer and wine queue was unbelievable. One of the little people came up to me and gifted me a palm cross they had been making, which was nice. Keeping it in my wallet.

Have temporarily taken my time off work. Have my CFA Level 2 paper on 15th June. But I have to join work by 3rd week of May as per the existing commitment so I am trying to study all I can as I won't get a minute after I starting working again in the mid May.
We get a day off on most prominent holidays of all major religions. Unless it is a very small business.

Last Friday of Lent. Lent ends when Maundy Thursday Mass begins, which here is 7pm next Thursday.
On the run in to Holy week now... Looking forward to Palm Sunday Mass. Be standing for a long time, there's a lot of gospel to get through.
Sadly, I won't make the whole triduum this year... Due to a lack of priests, Fr. Cosmas currently has to cover two parishes. This year the Triduum is being celebrated in his other parish, we get the Triduum at our church next year. I will make it across to Our Lady for the Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord on Good Friday, but won't get to Maundy Thursday and Easter Vigil Mass on the Saturday this year.
Best wishes to everyone fasting, praying the Stations, and attending Mass today.
Peace be with you sisters and brothers 🙏

Requiem Mass this morning. A member of our parish family died yesterday ✝️
If you are not of the faith, it basically means the Mass is dedicated to them, and some extra prayers offered for our departed sister... We commune with, and combine these prayers with all the Angels and Saints... The combined love of these prayers from Heaven and Earth, and the love of Jesus Himself, will ease the departed through purgatory, to reside in Christ.
