I strongly recommend Re-Animator and the original Fright Night. Two movies of 1985, how about that? It was a good year for the genre.

I'm scared to see Cannibal Holocaust (1980), not sure why, I love gore, but heard it was beyond disgusting, so much so that I might not have a good time. That's one of the reasons I haven't seen it. I love Horror movies and have seen a lot of them over the years and it is very rare when I get scared or grossed out in them now but cannibal stuff is the one thing that really grosses me out. It doesn't bother me if it is a monster type of creature eating humans but humans eating humans. Ewww!!!

Happy Birthday to Me Fright Night Re-Animator The ProwlerGinger Snaps The Strangers 30 Days of Night Lifeforce The Funhouse Last House on the Left The Hills Have EyesThe FogCan I stop? I have bolded the ones that I have seen and are very worthy, if you are a true horror aficionado.
Steer clear of the reamakes of The Fog and Fright Night. The remakes for Last House and Hills are fine.
I agree with all the choices Toasted Cheese put in bold James and those are all good movies and are worth checking out if you haven't seen them especially 'Re-Animator', '30 Days of Night' and 'Fright Night' which are some of my all time favs. 'Re-Animator' has two sequels called 'Bride of Re-Animator' and 'Beyond Re-Animator' with Jeffrey Combs as Dr. Herbert West and all three were enjoyable but I would avoid seeing the sequel to '30 Days of Night' 'cause it was terrible and Melissa George turned down returning 'cause of how bad the script was. Have you seen the two 'Demons' movies?

The sequels to 'Paranormal Activity', 'Saw', 'The Human Centipede' and 'The Purge.' We are going to watch the other 'Purge' movies one day but don't really have any interest in seeing the others.

I won't see it either. It appears to have been made just for shock value and also using real life animals for effect is just cruel and unacceptable.
If you want a cool cannibal movie, watch Cannibal Apocalypse aks Invasion Of The Flesh Eaters with John Saxon. Wait. They actually used REAL animals as effects? That is downright cruel and sadistic and I definitely won't be seeing it. I hate when movies do things like that and they should get charged for hurting innocent animals. I am not a fan of Horror films that are just purely made for shock value and I like blood and guts in Horror movies and can handle a lot more than most people I know but when that is all there is to a movie it is not really worth seeing for me.

I will never see this movie for that reason. Triva on IMDB: I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. I have no major issue with the animals being killed provided the tribe intended to eat them. Humans are a part of nature and animals eat other animals. Needless cruelty revolts me, however.

The animal deaths were extremely unsettling, but it seemed to me (the one time I saw it) that they weren't occurring just for the film and were sort of just capturing what the native people would have done anyway. It was unpleasant but because of that I never had any moral issues with it. I never researched it though. That was just my perception.

One of the most entertaining horror movies ever. Get it watched.

Not seen Ginger Snaps (it won a comedy screenwriting award--is it horror or what?).
Basically if it has been made after 2000 chances are I haven't seen it.
I did see the Asian Ring film (scary tv scene) and Dog Soldiers, but that was because someone sent me them on tape. Likely I wouldnt have sought them out otherwise (well, maybe the Ring given the buzz i had heard-they were right-the tv scene was squirm-inducing).

I may watch some of those movies in summer. Rosemary's Baby seems like an interesting film.

My recommendations. I may watch some of those movies in summer. Rosemary's Baby seems like an interesting film. It’s kinda slow, but it does got some shocking moments. I respect it a lot.

You should definitely watch 'Demons 1 and 2' when you get a chance 'cause they are two of Dario Argento's best movies and looking back at some of the other movies I remember you have written you like on here I think you will enjoy them. The first one takes place in a movie theatre and the second one is inside a hotel and the people are trapped in both of them desperately trying to get out while the ones who get bitten turn into demons. Another movie by Dario you might like is 'Creepers' with Jennifer Connelly and I first saw the movie in the early 90s when I hired it from the video shop and they got rid of it and I couldn't remember what it was called for years and forgot Jennifer was in it but I finally found it after years of searching and got it on Amazon.
