With it just being 1 day it's probably an aberration. I mean you do randomly see an increase from week to week every once in a while. Usually the totals coming in are less that $500,000 when it happens. I would call it bump from people catching up or wanting to see the last movie before End Game if the % drop stays negative up to around 30%. The drops were edging toward 40% last week.
Just to cover the basis we all know Disney is buying those seats.

This is slowing down pretty much. Doubt it will reach 1.1 billion... still a very good run though.

scabab , you are a fan of box office. Have you ever seen box office takes go up after a month? I've seen random sole aberration here and there. This is looking like a trend instead of random fluctuations. I wonder whats causing it with Captain Marvel. You think it's Spring Break or people seeing it before Endgame. It's just odd. Monday 4/8/19 = $865,424 Monday 4/15/19 = $884,741 2.2% increase Tuesday 4/9/19 = $1,382,319 Tuesday 4/16/19 = $1,297,834 6.1% decrease Wednesday 4/10/19 = $896,187 Wednesday 4/17/19 = $940,412 4.9% increase By this point the drops should be around 30%-40% so even the lone decrease this week is small. I don't think I've seen this before, except maybe, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. *Standard Deceleration that Disney bought the seats goes here*

scabab , you are a fan of box office. Have you ever seen box office takes go up after a month? Here and there yeah, with big movies it happens quite often with movies that release in November because they get a boost over the Christmas and New Year week. It's probably a combination of both. It is a holiday at the moment and a Marvel movie is coming out too. Even something like Dumbo which has been very front loader so far has had considerably smaller drops this week. www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=untitleddisneyfairytalela.htmYou can see with Black Panther last year that it had some increases on the week Infinity War came out too. www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=marvel2017b.htm

I guess it could happen to movies released near the Oscars that gets a boost from a nomination or win too. I don't think I've ever noticed it before, you learn something new everyday apparently.

Wasn't there something with Black Panther where Disney counted combined viewing of Black Panther and Infinity War towards Black Panther's Gross so it could go over 700m domestic? There isn't a milestone that they'll get close too. (I think it has 400m in the bag) It would be kind of funny if they did the same thing with Captain Marvel to get it's domestic over Wonder Woman. It would be petty and trivial, but kind of funny.

It would be petty and trivial, but kind of funny. This happens more than you'd think. There's been a few movies that have got close to a milestone but they wouldn't naturally reach it on their own so they'll have an odd unexplained bump just to push it over. It's usually referred to as "fudging". Like if you look at this www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm?page=8&p=.htmLook how many movies have made $98 million or $99 million. Now look how many have made $100 million. It's because they fudge it over. Same with how there's no movies that have made $199 million but there are 5 that have made $200 million.

The whole perception is reality thing. It looks so much better to be at a large round number than not. Human nature I guess we are so goal/milestone oriented. In the case of Captain Marvel, I don't foresee it not reaching 400m domestically. I think naturally it's going to be close to beating WW but fall short. I'd say around 408 to 410. The only reason the would fudge it to 413 would be to just beat Wonder Woman. While I can kind of see execs doing that it would come off as pretty fucking petty. If the holds stay up it might get it on it's own without fudging. Currently it's at 389.6m as of Wed. It should get around 391 Thursday. The weekend it has been projected at 6-7m so that gets it to 397. If you assume just 50% drops from there on out you are looking at 6m, 3m, 1.5m, .75 or 11.25+ 397 = 408.25. That's assuming 50% drops. Which they have been edging from 40% to 25% drops in last 2 weeks. We'll know if they fudge them though we'll see a major spike. Thanks for the term fudging. I use it when I DM. When I don't want something to die or don't want a character killed you fudge the dice roll. Like one of the characters has 3 hp left and as the dm you roll to hit and damage the character. You don't want him to die there because you have some plans. When you roll for damage you roll a 6 but say it was a 2.

Another positive day Thursday. It scored 1,278,038. A 44% increase from the previous Thursday. And for the week it got $13,012,552 only a 21% drop for the whole week. That puts it at 390,926,133 going into the weekend where conservatively will score 6mil. Currently at $1,068,926,127ย

$1,072,071,127 so far
It's looking like it will hit $400m domestic if it hasn't already.

weekend boxoffice actually up 5.7%+ Pre-Endgame bump Probably the last weekend where CM can get any decent numbers. Starting next weekend, anybody going to the theaters will probably be going for Endgame.
