How can a film with a 27% "want to see" on RT make over $150m opening weekend? Unless that's not an accurate score, and was manipulated by loser trolls and bots.

Holy Cow! Wasn't it just a week ago that some people were saying Captain Marvel was going to underperform and that no one wanted to see it? Once again the naysayers get crushed beneath the heel of the mighty MCU! Wonder Woman fans must be particularly disappointed that there is more interest in some obscure MCU female superhero than there was with their well known DC superhero.

Wonder Woman fans must be particularly disappointed that there is more interest in some obscure MCU female superhero than there was with their well known DC superhero. The whole idea that people wouldn't go to see superhero movies with a female lead was based mainly upon Catwoman and Electra failing badly at the box office. That was insipid because those are two characters whose main function was as a love interest for the hero (who wasn't going to be in it) and were reportedly terrible movies. Also what made Electra special in comic lore in my day was she died. It was a rare win for the badguys which devastated the hero, taking that away kinda ruins the dramatic impact of her death, and I really liked Jennifer Garner and that whole (extended cut) movie.
I was pissed when I found out Black Widow wasn't getting a movie, she was great in The Avengers and The Winter Soldier and is a great character in her own right with the KGB background, espionage skills and the good sense to realize going toe-to-toe with the Hulk is a poor idea, better to talk or run and find a different way.

Nah, what made those comparisons insipid was because Catwoman and Elektra were horrible movies and has no business being compared with WW and CM.

Yes, I noted that as well, but the other point is valid as well. It was the dynamic between the hero and those two which made them popular characters in the series they appeared in, absent that neither were even heroes for that matter, how could they be the star of a superhero story? It was the hero's attempt to convert the naughty girl and her tempting the hero to walk on the wild side which made those stories work. Take that away and what do you have? Nothing except fans disappointed that the hero isn't in the story, perhaps non-plussed the ersatz heroine is 'cheating' on the hero with someone else or no romantic angle at all.
Better to just start with one like Danvers few even know about where you can create a storyline with no baggage.

Everyone knew shills and sheep would boost this weekend. It's next weekend and overseas that counts; this weekend means nothing whatsoever.

If that 460m+ OW estimate holds out would put it at 6 largest OW of all time.

And I, for one, never said it wouldn't make a shit-ton on opening weekend. In fact, just the opposite.

Do you think that the second weekend drop off will fall in the normal range for CBM/Blockbusters around 55-65%?

Tough to get a clear read on word of mouth because of the preponderance of Disney shill bots: I think we'll have a better vantage point circa Tuesday.
