Yet another exciting release lined up from Shout! Factory; the 1982 demonic horror film The Entity will be released on blu-ray June 11th. As usual, we have to wait awhile before the special features are announced. It's going to be a collector's edition, so it will likely be a big improvement over the previous Anchor Bay release.
I've got my calendar marked!

I'm actually surprised Barbara Hershey gave an interview because I remember reading somewhere that she did not enjoy making the movie and regretted her participation. It will be very interesting to see what she has to say.

I'm always interested in hearing Charles Bernstein speak. He's very innovative. He was one of the first composers to take a d.i.y. approach to composing scores, working in his own basement studio, experimenting with sound and electronics, creating instrument attachments.

I don't think I've ever seen him speak before, so I'll be looking forward to his interview on this new release. I notice he has quite an extensive filmography, including A Nighmare On Elm Street.

He's an inspiration to samplers nowadays, so there's some nice interviews online if you're interested. He even wrote a Catholic Mass at some point. You mention Wes Craven, who was raised in the Baptist Church, and whom Charles Bernstein worked with synth-wise on 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' (1984) and then on the robotic horror 'Deadly Friend' (1986); they were two musicians with an intense background in religious devotion.
"First of all, I don’t look upon it as a Catholic mass as much as an ecumenical application of the catholic liturgy. I try to look upon it as a world mass, rather than a mass of any particular denomination of masses. I got the idea because I’m a great lover of the music of history and every composer that I’ve ever loved—from early on to the present day—has written a mass. Benjamin Britten, Bach, Beethoven—even Leonard Bernstein did a really interesting mass in the 1970s. All through history every composer that has mattered to me has taken a shot at it, so it was on my radar. Not that I’m comparing myself, mind you."

Thanks for sharing. I liked 'The Entity' and I am actually really surprised it hasn't been remade looking at all the other Horror movies that have been over the past twenty years 'cause 'The Entity' seems like it would fit right in with the current crop of Horror movies. Perhaps we will see a remake soon.

I can't stand the banging when the entity puts in an appearance... ruins the film so it does.
