The scoping found no major problems, and Catwoman's appetite was somewhat better when they cleared her to eat lunch. However, what with the procedure and physical therapy, she was completely worn out, and she feel asleep this afternoon. She didn't even wake up for the news or We Bare Bears. She did almost wake up when Catman gave her a kiss before leaving.
As for Catman's health, he's been doing his best to take care of himself. He takes his meals and medications on time, and he's been taking his his own meals since the cafeteria is somewhat limited on vegetarian options. He walks around the hospital at regular intervals, and every afternoon he does his physical therapy exercises. He goes home right after We Bare Bears, does a few necessary errands, and plays with the cats. He goes to bed at a reasonably hour, gets up around 6:30, has a good breakfast, cleans up, plays with the cats some more, and leaves for the hospital around 9:00 to spend the day with Catwoman. It's nice that the hospital is only a few minutes' drive from home.

And it sounds like you are doing all the right the things for yourself, which is inspirational.

Kiss those kitties, and give Catwoman a hug for me!

Catwoman is doing much better today even though she still tires easily. She's eating more, and her spirits are back to normal.
The goal before releasing her to the care facility is for her to stand with minimal assistance and move from the bed to the chair (or from the chair to the bed). No real timeline is set, but it's unlikely she'll be released before sometime next week.
Of course, Medicare rules may be in play as well. Medicare frowns on patients being readmitted so soon after being released, especially when the patient ends up in the ICU in critical condition.

That's good news, things are going in the right direction, and good luck with the Medicare issue; they can get kinda testy in certain circumstances. I'm dealing with issues of my mother in a care facility right now, and it isn't pretty.

I came in on this so late because I've been dealing with moving--not a long distance, but very rushed and intense, which explains my sporadic posting on these boards until recently. Catman: Big, big . Good grief, what a terrifying time you've had! I am so glad to hear your beloved cat-mate is doing better. Please pass along a gentle hug from me, too, and feel free to let her know she is in my prayers...as is her faithful Catman. Also, give your kitty-kids scritches from their Auntie Ellyn. Rachel, best of luck in dealing with those care facility issues. Hope everything works out for you and your mother.

So glad to hear Catwoman is making steady progress! If her spirits are better, that is half the battle to getting her strength back, IMO.

Catwoman may be transferred to the skilled care facility on Wednesday. That's good news, Catman! Here's to hoping that they take better care of her this time, and that her next stop will be home!

Well how about that. They released her a day early. And the skilled nursing folks gave her a bigger room with better chairs to boot.

Catwoman is settling in to a nice routine at the care facility. The staff are kind and the other residents are a jovial lot. If one cannot be at home, it's not a bad place to be.

They made Catwoman really work hard in therapy on Friday. Fifteen minutes on the recumbent bicycle, followed by a few dexterity exercises, ending with trying to stand up from her wheel chair ten times. She couldn't stand, of course, which disappointed her until the therapist pointed out that the attempt was strengthening the muscles needed to stand. And the fact she was able to try was something she could not have even attempted a few weeks ago. She's still a long way from ready to come home, but she is making progress.
Catman was concerned that with all that work, Catwoman wouldn't be up to a visit from Miko today. But this morning she was eager to see Miko, so Catman brought her over. When Catman first opened her carrier, Miko raced around the room checking for hidden dangers, and after finding none, she checked the room several more times just to be sure. Eventually, she calmed down enough to realize Catwoman was there, and she rubbed up against her hand. She even found time to try out the new scratching post, but she wasn't quite up to chasing after toys. When the nurse came in to do the daily check of Catwoman's vitals, Miko let the nurse pet her. Overall, it was a good first visit.
Miko really brightened Catwoman's spirits, and she asked if Miko could visit again tomorrow. Miko seems up for the challenge.
