got out of the way. He had the flame thrower but didn’t want to kill her. She was useless.

She was struck in horror. Of course she couldn’t move. True but she should have snapped out of it as two lives were at stake. But then again she wanted to draw straws for entry to the crowded shuttle, so she was selfish as well, although fear is probably the answer. She was a girl with a couple of weaknesses. Ripley was likewise frozen in fear late in the film when in the presence of the Alien, but managed to snap out of it.

Sure but you could make the argument that Ripley made it because she was braver than Lambert. Humans have different levels of fear and survival instincts and I guess Ripley had it better than Lambert in this case. I mean can you really blame her for making these irrational decisions when put in this horrifying situation?
