MCU's 'Captain Marvel' or the original Captain Marvel in 'Shazam'?

I've seen every DCEU film in theaters. Why stop now?

I’m voting for both of course. As a superhero movie fan, I demand to see as many as I desire.

Shazam! doesn’t even look all that great, but it’s the only one I might see in theaters.

I went with both, even though I have no idea who Shazam! is and have encountered mixed reviews of Captain Marvel. I do like (good) superhero movies though, so here's hoping they'll both appeal to me.

Shazam (aka Captain Marvel) is a DC superhero. He’s been rather very well-known and popular among the DC fanbase.

What do you mean sort of? He's one of those comics/characters DC "bought" or obtained...like V for Vendetta, Blackhawk, Plastic Man etc. True it's their character...just not their creation

Thanks for the info. The Shazam/Captian Marvel situation is very confusing.... 1941 Fawcett publish Captain Marvel (aka Shazam) Shazam outsells Superman DC sue Fawcett for copyright infringement because of similarities to Superman After a decade of court cases DCs complaint dismissed because they never properly copyrighted Superman An appeal went in favour of DC saying some feats and storylines were similar to Supermans Fawcett settle out of court, agreed to never publish the character again. Fawcett soon goes bankrupt, closing its comics division Over a decade later in 1967 Marvel obtains the name/trademark "Captain Marvel" In the 70s DC decide to obtain the character "Captain Marvel"....but have to use the name Shazam because Marvel now owns Captain Marvel. 1973 DC published the first Shazam comic

A repeat viewing of THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL That’s a really fun serial—I found it for my grandfather some years back, as Captain Marvel (the Fawcett/DC CM in the serial, not Marvel’s CM) was his favorite superhero when he was a kid. It’s very entertaining.

Didn't even know that. Thanks for the info. In the 70s DC decide to obtain the character "Captain Marvel"....but have to use the name Shazam because Marvel now owns Captain Marvel. Incorrect. The original Captain Marvel was still Captain Marvel in the 1970s and DC was still allowed to call him Captain Marvel in the 1970s. In fact, in the Shazam! TV series of the 1970s, the show's title was Shazam! but the character's name was still Captain Marvel. DC wasn't allowed to use Captain Marvel in the title of the comic books or TV show but the character was still allowed to be called Captain Marvel since he was the original Captain Marvel. It was decades later during the new 52 when DC decided to change the character's name to Shazam.

It’s very entertaining. The special effects are very good. They do a cave melting scene which is really neat--not sure how they did it--as well as really good rear projection of a ship at sea. The Lydecker brothers I believe--they worked for Monogram or Republic. The great thing about it too is that it is what a superhero story should be--escapism, interesting action...I don't go to a superhero film expecting lots of scenes of super-powered people sitting around talking about their angst.

I'd be a pretty major Batman fan, but wouldn't be too well versed on the wider DC universe.
