Ben and Jerry's flavor in the early to mid 1990s SOLVED

Also! Alerting BATouttaheck , because it reminds me of an authentic Uncle Save-A-Coin story (which is somewhat reminiscent of the story about my dad and “regular toast”):

Several years before I was born, my goofball uncle had been on a long hike with my parents, and they had just gotten out of the woods and were exhausted. They went to this steakhouse in a town not too far from the trailhead and ate like a starving man in a desert. Finally it was time for dessert. My uncle wanted ice cream—specifically blueberry ice cream. (“Why?” Who knows?) The waitress lists the flavors of ice cream they have: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. My uncle smiled and said, “I’ll have the blueberry.”

“Blueberry pie, sir?”

“No, blueberry ice cream.”

“But we don’t have blueberry ice cream, sir.”

“Oh. What do you have?”

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry.

“OK. I’ll have the blueberry.”

“You mean strawberry?”

“No, blueberry.”

“We don’t have blueberry ice cream!”

“But you just said you did!”

“No, I said we don’t have it!”

“Oh.”

It went on like that for a while until the waitress finally hammered the lack of blueberry ice cream into his exhausted head. My parents were cracking up through the whole thing. And the coda is that Ben & Jerry’s blueberry is, of course, now pushing up daisies in their ice cream graveyard, along with Rainforest Crunch.
