One of the most baffling dissapearances in Europe happened in Spain during the 80's.
David Guerrero Guevara lived in Malaga, Spain and was a highly gifted artist who made religious paintings, cartoons, comics and sculptures of pop culture icon of the 80's. At 13, David was a bit different from someone of his age. He only went out of his home to school and to his art academy. He barely had any friends and usually had his brother with him during his ride on the bus in his way to the art academy.
The afternoon of April 3, 1987, David left out his house to took part in a religious art exhibition where one of his paintings was being shown. That day, David was going to be accompanied by his father but due to some problems he couldn't go with him. David was going to the exposition and after to his art academy. David left out his house with his bus card and his art materials. Due to him being a young artist he was scheduled to be interviewed but sadly he never arrived nor to the interview nor to the art exposition.
They day he was scheduled to be in his first art exposition, was also important for the city due to Queen Sophia's visit to Malaga. For this event, there were lots of security forces around the town like no other day. At night, David's father went to the art academy to pick him up but couldn't find him. He went to the art exposition where he was also going to be interviewed and found out he never arrived there. Finally, he went home and didn't found him either.
When police first investigated the case they found weird that a forced kidnapping would have happened in a city that had high security measures due to the visit of Queen Sophia. Also, the bus station was 15 minutes far from David's home. Nobody even saw him entering the bus nor arriving to the station.
The following months there was an apparent sighting of David in Portugal where a boy similar to David was painting on the streets. Police thought maybe David went off on his own to pursue an artistic career or that he was lured by a band to paint in other countries. When spanish police arrived to see this kid they found out it was a lot taller than David and was a year older.
However, the most baffling clue came from a drawing made in a napking found in a hotel bedroom. A maid contacted the police because in the drawing it read this: "David Guerrero Guevara, Huelin". Apparently the bedroom was used by a rich swiss guy who at the time was 70 years old. One of David last drawing resemblanced the swiss guy: bizarreandgrotesque.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/guevara3.jpg?w=359&h=378
In 1990, when police finally investigated who this man was they were told by her wife that he was already dead. They also found out he was a keen photographer and had a private studio in his home. They searched his studios but didn't found any photo related to David.
Years have passed and although there has been some reports of possible sightings in France, Ireland and other parts of Europe, there hasn't been any clue of where David's whereabouts could be. Last year his father died and due to some legal issues his family initiated the procedure to declare him legally dead.
Last year also, there was a special exposition in Malaga organized by his brother of David's paitings: www.diariosur.es/malaga-capital/nino-pintor-recuerdo-20180921150954-nt.html
