So both Miko and Katsura like the cat tunnel. Katsura has also recently discovered that she, too, can jump up on the counter for a closer view when Catman serves up food. Miko seems to not mind much, but it does make the task a bit more challenging when there are two cats who want to eat the food before it reaches the bowl.

Katsura had a bit of an adventure this morning.
Since it's likely Catwoman will need to stay in the care facility a few more months, Catman took in Katsura's veterinary records a week or so ago to get her okayed for a visit. This morning both Katsura and Catwoman were surprised that Katsura was the cat who came to visit.
Given her temperament and that it was her first visit, Katsura did quite well. What with all the extra noises outside the room and the unknown person inside the room, she decided to stay inside her carrier for the duration of the visit. She did relax enough to look around and get an idea of the room layout, and she purred when Catman reached in to pet her. Toward the end of the visit, Catman encouraged Catwoman to reach into the carrier to pet Katsura, and Katsura not only accepted a few moments of petting but also rubbed her face against Catwoman's hand. On the way out to the car, Katsura even came up to the front of her carrier so one of the residents who fancies cats could get a good look at her.
When she got home, Catman left her in her room for a couple hours to unwind. Even after Catman had his lunch, she was considerably calmer than when she first got home, and once afternoon meal time for cats rolled around, she was ready to come upstairs and chill out like normal.
Tomorrow, Miko will return to her normal routine of visiting Catwoman while Katsura gets to hang around the house.

Miko found a nice new spot for napping atop the refrigerator. Okay, she had a little help getting things set up, but she does seem to like the fact that when she's snuggled down, she cannot be seen.

Katsura had her second visit with Catwoman this morning. This time Catman did not let her stay in her carrier, and at first she opted to hide under the bed up against the wall. After about an hour, Catman persuaded her to sit on his lap and let Catwoman pet her for quite a while. Eventually she got tired of all that adoration and wanted to go back to that spot under the bed until Catman showed her the little den with the soft mat Miko likes to sleep on. Once she saw that she went right in and settled down for the remainder of her visit. When she got home, she calmed down quickly and came upstairs after about twenty minutes.

Katsura has taken another step in her journey from street cat to house cat. For the past couple days, she has walked away from her food bowl when there is still food left. Granted, she still makes sure she gets every last bite of her canned food, but she seems to be confident that there will be dry food available when she needs it.
She has come a long way from that timid rafter cat.

Yeah, it has been a long time! My part-time job has really interfered with my life. And it has been a busy bottle-baby kitten season, too. My last one just continued his journey to find his forever home yesterday. I'm having terrible empty-nest symptoms!

Miko discovered a new way to enjoy looking out the window. The damage to the slats of the blinds was accomplished by Cassie and Xander, but they never climbed behind the blinds. Xander was too large, and Cassie, well, it just never crossed her mind.

Catwoman wasn't quite ready this morning, so Catman took Miko out to the fireplace area. She greeted one of the residents who was there with her son and seemed quite content until the vacuuming started. She's wasn't quite sure what to make out it since Catman uses a carpet rack rather than a vacuum at home. When the vacuum stopped, Miko did a rather curious thing: Instead of going into her carrier as one might expect, she trotted down the hall to Catwoman's room. Fortunately, Catwoman was ready by then, and seeing the open door, Miko scooted into the room. The visit went by too quickly, and when lunch time rolled around, it was time to take Miko home. But before leaving, Catman took Miko over to have a brief visit with the resident across the hall, who was one of the first people Miko met when she first started visiting Catwoman. A nice relaxing day.

Yesterday Katsura had her third visit with Catwoman. This time Catman let her decide whether to stay in the carrier or not, and she decided to stay in the carrier. However, she did come to the front and have a good look around a few times. She enjoyed listening to Catwoman talk with her and was happy for the scratches under her chin. She even played with a toy for quite a while. In many ways, she's acting like she did when she first joined the family. Everything was new and required a cautious approach. But she's warming up to Catwoman, and in time, she'll feel at home at the care center. Miko had her visit today. They've turned the alarm sound back on when residents activate their call lights, and Miko was not to happy with that. Catwoman found some soothing music to play (one of Wanting Qu's albums), and Miko calmed down. She purred a lot and finally fell asleep.
