I think the show is at its best when it focuses on typical teen drama stuff like love triangles or drug addiction. When they start getting too deep into social/race issues it feels like they’re in over their heads.

Crenshaw subplot is much more compelling to me, but the beverly hills subplot has the better actors.

Crenshaw subplot is much more compelling to me, but the beverly hills subplot has the better actors. It’s definetly not a bad subplot. I get what they are trying to do. However, I just feel like the writers are biting off more than they can chew when it comes to doing that kinda story justice. I feel like they have a much stronger grasp of the teen drama content.
