I'd place her more in the same category as Laurie Strode in Halloween '78. Not really a superhero or action hero, but a horror movie Final Girl-type. Yeah, I was actually kind of suspecting that a little bit.
I do think that in a small way though, Sidney Prescott is close to being a Female Action Hero.
That said, Thank You for Answering and letting me know.
In a strange way, I think Final Girls could be viewed as forerunners to the female action heroes that emerged in the 80s. Horror was the first genre where a female character ended up being the last one standing and forced to confront the killer/monster/whatever - often successfully. The respective Final Girls in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Halloween and Friday the 13th comes head-to-head with the killers in each film and ultimately survives when everyone else dies.

No, I actually think that the Movie " ALIEN" was the First that had a Woman being the last one left standing in the end.

Alien was interesting in that Ripley more or less evolved from being a very badass Final Girl in Scott's movie to a gun-totting warrior in Cameron's sequel.

I think Ellen Ripley is, but this lady would be up near the top.

Given how topical this issue appears to be at the moment, I thought it would be interesting to learn who everyone's favourite female action hero or superhero is. You can pick a character from either a film/film franchise or TV series. Mine is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This has been a Really GREAT Idea of a Topic on Here!
Well Done and GREAT Job!
If you don't mind me recommending and your open to considering it, You should kind of do a Sequel to this Thread but this time about "Your favourite Superhero Female Villain or Action Hero Female Villain?".
I have tried doing threads like that in the past but I have definitely done a very poor job of it and had little success with it but that is just on me. I am thinking that maybe you can put it together in better fashion. I definitely think you would get some interesting answers from people (including myself) if you did.

Cheers! I like your idea of creating a sequel thread. Will get on it soon.

It is a shame a 'Faith' spinoff series never went through. I remember when I first heard about it 'Buffy' was still on air and Eliza was said to have turned it down for 'Tru Calling' 'cause she wanted to do something different and then that show only ended up going for two seasons before it was cancelled. It would have been interesting to have seen what they would have done with the character in it and if they had moved some other 'Buffy' characters over to it too. I heard a rumour Spike was originally going to be in it before they put him in 'Angel' but I am not sure if that is true. I think a 'Faith' show could work now with it being set years later and they could say Faith gave up being a slayer for years and lived a normal life and had a family until one day Buffy was killed or disappeared and a great evil is coming and Faith is the only one who can stop it leading to Faith having to become a slayer again. I would have Faith have an 8 or 10 year old too so she had to juggle being a slayer and a Mum making it very different than 'Buffy' was.
As for the 'Angel' relaunch I am not sure if it will go through or not. Some sites I have read believe it could be a continuation show or a movie and I would actually say they would be stupid not to bring it back with all the other shows like 'Full House', 'Will & Grace', 'Murphy Brown' and 'Veronica Mars' they have brought back and are planning to bring back 'cause both 'Buffy' and 'Angel' still have a very large fanbase and it would be guaranteed to get viewers and would probably be the most successful revival of all time. The big problem with an Angel relaunch is that David Boreanaz looks like a middle-aged man now (he's 50 now) and not the 30-something he was at the turn of the century. Explaining his aged appearance would be a complication that would need to be resolved from the outset. The Faith spin-off you've proposed could work, but I can't see Joss getting heavily involved in a new Buffyverse project. Yeah. That is a good point. I could see that being a problem with both David Boranaz and James Marsters 'cause both actors look like they have aged a lot since they last played Angel and Spike and the only way I can see it working is if they followed one of the storylines from the 'Angel: After the Fall' comic books and had Wolfram & Hart use the Shanshu Prophecy against Angel and Spike and say they have been human all these years and they have them become vampires with souls again in the new series or movie. I am not sure about Joss 'cause he does seem to be focused on other things now but they were saying late last year he was involved in the new 'Buffy' reboot. At the very least I could see some of the characters definitely returning if the 'Buffy' reboot set in the future goes through.

Nobody brings up The Bionic Woman? Am I dating myself here? Haven't you seen what she can do to an orange? 🍊 Hey! I liked 'The Bionic Woman too. That was a great TV show and we have the whole three seasons on DVD but I can't say I was a big fan of the remake they made back in 2007 and I found that to be disappointing. The original series with Lindsay Wagner will always be a classic though.

I haven't read the comics, but something like that might work. Or maybe simply make them fully human now. Who knows? Perhaps middle-aged Buffy could finally get together with an ageing Angel.

What about Jennifer Garner's character in "PEPPERMINT" ?
Would she qualify as an Action Hero ?
