Catching up on a backlog of Supergirl episodes on my DVR.
Honestly, I literally just watched Menagerie and I could barely tell you what happened. No wonder there doesn't seem to have been any discussion about this episode in other threads over the last few weeks. How dull.
More forced bullshit about Alex not remember that Kara is Supergirl.... So stupid. Don't get me wrong, I'm a much greater supporter for the hypothetical effectiveness of Superman/Supergirl's disguises than most people. I've seen how much something as simple a person wearing or not wearing glasses changes the look of their face and how readily you recognize them; especially if it's someone just in passing. And they found the perfect actress for this in Melissa Benoist, because she can and has done so much to affect subtle changes to her look with her hair and the glasses that transform her appearance; and there have been some photos of her where she doesn't quite seem recognizable. But someone like your sister is going to be know what you look like better than the average person on the street or even the home viewer; they've seen this person for years, up close and personal and it's not going to work on them and ostensibly wouldn't have to without some absurd fuckery, like making them forget to protect yourself from getting that knowledge for someone else through her. The only way that might work is if J'Onn created some type of mental block that made her dissociate Kara from Supergirl on subconscious level; so that even when confronted with the clear visual indication of who Supergirl is, he brain doesn't let her make the connection. In which case it would make more sense if J'Onn had simply given Alex a trigger where this block only came to play when she was on the clock and at home or when away from the job, she'd remember who Kara actualy was. But then, where else would they manufacture drama?
If the president wanted what's his name out of jail, why not pardon him? Or has he not had a trial yet? In which case, why not? This is television, there's no excuse for that. Why pull some stupid McGuffin out of your ass with the Patriot Act only applying to people, when they could have made his trial a media circus, with people on both sides of the issue protesting; and after losing the president pardons him, creating an even larger divide among people.
Oh no, James and Lena broke up! Kara, you need to go over and comfort Lena; and bring the edible bouquet...and some champagne....and a Barry White album.....
I think someone posted in another thread their theory that James is going to be the one to get super powers, but I expect it's going to be Alex, since she's working for the DEO and Lena was hired to give them powers....

With the Agent Liberty thing even if the patriot act only was intended for humans doesn't mean it cannot be altered, you know laws change all the time because they circumstances change, this is sort of why I don't buy the president is the big bad, he seems too obvious and stupid, if he were to be the big bad he should be working with Agent Liberty in secret whilst in public supporting Supergirl so he can undermine her and the support for aliens whilst appearing as an ally, he comes across too much like a high value pawn of someone like say Lex.
The mental block thing should have been brought up, like J'ohn has created a perception filter and wall inside Alex's mind to where she cannot create the connection between Kara & Supergirl, but where should she be told the truth then J'ohn's tinkering dissolves and Alex gets all the memories back.
I was the one who said after last weeks ep I got the feeling the whole Lena create's meta's plot is done in large part to give James powers, because of how last weeks episode ended, I agree alex probably could get powers but then she also has her various super suits, like her magnet thing, or the exosuit that allows her to absorb blows from Metallo full force on unprotected parts of her body, so it's sort of like whats the point really? Alex being the one Arrow type of hero on the show is more fun because she's the most skilled really but she doesn't have powers, so she makes for a good hero because she's one due to her dedication not powers, but she also plays as a viable weak link in this powerhouse team.
But yeah theres not a lot of interesting things going on.

Yeah, I only finished watching the next episode; so I didn't realize James had been shot. Kind of goes to show the level of energy these shows pump into people that I could go this whole time, coming to this board every day, reading most of the threads and not have a clue that happened.

Also goes to just how James is, I mean on Flash Nora was fangirling over a female blogger and we got a thread about it and if that was the first super powered LGBTQ+ representation on one of these shows, because Nora smiled at and was a fan of a female character, James get's shot however and no one gives a shit because he dull...dull as fuck...duller than dishwater on a lazy Sunday afternoon and boy that's dull.

We haven't watched the latest episode yet and are going to watch that when we go off along with 'Supernatural' but I was going to post a thread about James being shot last week and just didn't get around to doing it. He is a fairly boring character though and I think if they were to use that to kill him off and he was never seen again it wouldn't make much of a change to the show 'cause he doesn't have the same presence as some other characters have like Alex and John whose deaths I think would be felt more. I don't mind Braniac 5 and I think he is probably the funniest character in all the 'Arrowverse' shows this season and I am interested in seeing if they dive more into his past and the original Braniac in the 'Supergirl' universe. The one thing I found odd about how they introduced Braniac 5 was nobody was afraid of him when he turned up and I thought Braniac 5 was supposed to look very similar to Braniac which is why they have some people mix them up and think Braniac 5 is the bad Braniac in some of the comic books I have read but in this there was no mention of there being a previous Braniac or where Braniac 5 came from until he briefly mentioned it in a conversation with Nia. I would like to see him play an evil Braniac just for an episode out of curiosity to see what he is like as dead serious and scary.

The episode that was shown last night (17 MAR) with Lex Luthor was actually quite good (relatively speaking). The show works better when they focus on telling a story instead of pushing an agenda.

Yes, that was awesome. Loved how it turned out that Lex was manipulating Lena all along and pulling her puppet strings. That was a better Lex than Jesse Eisenberg's Lex.

Not exactly saying much though is it, I mean that's like saying they are a better writer than EL James, or smarter than Joey Essex, it's a low bar to hurdle, alos he still aint got shit on Rosenbaum's Lex, now that was awesome.
Also not sure Lex so blatantly manipulating things is awesome, actually makes Lena look stupid to fall for such an obvious manipulation.

DC-Fan is the reason why these shows do well. They have such poor taste and low standards that they accept any crap you toss at them.

No. He is not as good as Michael Rosenbaum in 'Smallville' or John Shea in 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' and I think those two have been the best actors to play Lex Luthor in movies and TV Shows and nobody comes close. Although I did find Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor pretty funny in the 'Superman' movies and never understood why he gets so much hate now compared to other actors who have played bad versions of villains 'cause he was at least entertaining and I like how they played out the egomaniac element which was something we didn't really see with Michael's version in 'Smallville.' I don't mind this new Lex so far and he is a lot better than I thought he would have been and I am interested in seeing where they go with him this season. I think the reason Lena fell for his obvious manipulation is 'cause she is more emotional around her brother than anybody else and if it was anybody else they wouldn't have been able to do it to her but I think some part of Lena wants to believe there is good in Lex 'cause he is her brother.
