For me it's anything in the caraway-fennel-anise family.

cilantro. Made the mistake recently of taking a bite of a leaf at the store, which was missing an identification/price card, thinking it was Italian parsley. Ugh.

cilantro. Made the mistake recently of taking a bite of a leaf at the store, which was missing an identification/price card, thinking it was Italian parsley. Ugh. My guy used to hate cilantro...but as much Mexican food as he eats, he ended up getting used to that cilantro mix they always put on your plate and even likes the cilantro sauce on some enchiladas. I'm meh on cilantro. The only thing I cannot abide whatsoever is that fennel et al shit. Sucks because I like Italian cooking , sauces and pastas and cheese and such, but they like that spice so authentic is kinda not something I can do much lol. I don't do sausage either so that eliminates some but I will find it in weird (to me) places and spit it out.

First time I had it, in a NYC Chinese Restaurant, I gagged a few times and thought they had left soap on the plate, or it was possibly the ginger. I had never thought it would have been leaves. There's probably something like this for licorice-like flavors. www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/24/why-does-cilantro-taste-bad-like-soap_n_7653808.html

For me it's anything in the caraway-fennel-anise family. I am no fan of Asafoetida. I also dislike star-anise. I like coriander as spice cilantro/coriander plant as herb a lot. Though some people may find Cilantro's taste a bit soapy.

There are curry powders but they are actually mixtures of many different spices. Curry refers to any cuisine with a sauce that is made from various combinations of spices that are usually used in Indian subcontinent/Thailand/Indonesia/Malaysia. Traditionally, curry used to refer to certain Indian cuisines but now a days many kinds of curries have evolved. Curry powder usually consists of following ingredients: Coriander powder curry leaf, turmeric powder, cumin powder, fenugreek leaves chili peppers Additionally there can be other ingredients such as garlic powder, fennel seed asafoetida, cloves, caraway seed, cinnamon and cardamom etc.
