Tell me, can you recite the Our Father 🤔 Yes, I can, but what difference does it make? Hail Mary?

Yes, I can, but what difference does it make? Hail Mary? I don't have it memorized. Again, what difference does it make? If I can read a Muslim prayer and recite it, does that make me a Muslim?

If there is I'd be quite interested in seeing it. According to my Protestant indoctrination there is no such evidence in the Bible, but since I'm completely lapsed I'd be curious to see it. Were you taught that after being crucified, Christ went to Hell and took out certain souls of the dead? I'll admit, "The Harrowing of Hell" has a nice ring to it, but anyone in Hell would be irredeemably evil, so why would Christ take anyone out of there? No, never heard of that. Is that in the Bible?

More or less (like several other things). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrowing_of_Hell

THE
You are correct. Many "texts" are based upon mistranslations and wiki is not a good source for reference.

Seems more less and less more to me, sort of like scriptural references to the Trinity doctrine. Interesting link, thanks.

The Greeks and Romans believed in a place called the Underworld, and the Sumerians did too if I'm not mistaken. Not sure about the Egyptians. I think there's some truth to it. Otherwise, everyone who lived and died before the time of Christ went to Hell, no matter how good they were, with the possible exceptions of Enoch and Elijah and maybe some others who are not mentioned in any scriptures.

The heart would be weighed against a feather. If your heart was heavy (sin), it with the other manifestations of your soul would be eaten by this demon god and therefore cease to exist. The god's name is AMMIT.
