The complaint is that in almost all of their movies, the lead character is a white male (the kind that Brie Larson hates) with a non-white as a sidekick/subordinate. It's a worthless complaint though. Naturally Marvel started off with the main characters first, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Ant-man, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and Black Panther. With the exception of the latter, they are all white characters. They make up for that by having one of the other significant characters non white. Falcon and War Machine were black. Heimdall, Valkyrie, Ned Leeds and Mary Jane were white but they made them black or asian for the movie. So they're making the casting more diverse and they're still complaining about it.

I still don't see the problem. It shows the hypocrisy of Kevin Feige and the MCU. They send Brie Larson out to say there are too many white men in her press tour and she demands more opportunities for non-whites, but almost all MCU movies have white men as the lead character and hardly any opportunities for non-whites to be in the lead star.

So you're saying that superhero movies should break character consistency by changing the lead character's race so they can tick the diversity checkbox?

Of course those two characters, being from Norse mythology, should have never been "of colour" in the first place...

That was the characters race in the comic. You're not going to get a black Doctor Strange just like you're not going to get a white Black Panther. It's not just what sidekicks. Baron Mordo and Shocker weren't black but they made them that way for the movie.

If MCU cared about character consistency, then they should've had Janet Van Dyne name the team Avengers instead of Carol Danvers? Also, the word Avengers implies vengeance or revenge. So what was Carol Danvers getting revenge for? Too many white men in the Air Force?

And, as a respectful correction: SOME people are complaining about it; the rest are complaining about those people. ETA: Innit?

At least the minorities are represented in positive roles.
New Warriors has a black lead guy. He’s pretty cool. That would be good to see on the screen.
