Good gawd the heart is just a pump. The brain is our built-in computer. I agree that the heart is just a pump, tell that to the cretinous cretin on the board claiming otherwise, I would however go further and claim that the brain is the seat of our consciousness and more than a computer.

No. You said scientists can't figure out how the heart beats without a brain at that stage. This site tells how that happens.
The fetal nervous system — i.e., your baby-to-be's brain and spinal cord — is one of the very first systems to develop. In fact, it's making big strides before you even know you're pregnant.Once the neural tube closes, at around week 6 or week 7 of pregnancy, it curves and bulges into three sections, commonly known as the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. Just to the rear of the hindbrain sits the part that will soon turn into your baby's spinal cord. Soon, these areas bubble into those five different regions of the brain that we're most familiar with: the cerebrum, cerebellum, brain stem, pituitary gland and the hypothalamus. Brain stem: The engine driving many of your baby's most vital functions, including heart rate, breathing and blood pressure.
It's really not as big a mystery as you think it is.
The first sentence confirms what I said: the baby's brain and spinal cord 'is ONE of the very first systems'. Not THE first system. The FIRST thing to develop is the heart without the fully developed brain that's inside the skull.
And we all know that scientists exclude whatever doesn't fit their theories, so who knows if that's even the correct sequence.
Regardless, none of that refutes what I said about ancient cultures disposing of the brain. There were cultures that did that, and you can't refute it.
You may be right about that. The scientist of the day might not have thought the brain did much of anything so they disposed it. It didn't fit their theories of what made the human body tick.

Before they mummified someone, they removed the heart first, then the genitalia. They would remove the brain through the nose, then throw it in the trash. They would then replace the heart and genitals back into the body. That's the regard they had for the brain.
In the fetus, the first thing that develops (without the brain) is the heart. Scientists (no surprise) can't figure out how the heart beats without the brain at that stage.
See, twits, the brain is but a receiver and for the mechanics of bodily movement. It is not where consciousness lies.
So your basis for this claim is the beliefs of primitive people that didn't know a hundredth of what we do about the human body? Says a lot.

I agree that the heart is just a pump, tell that to the cretinous cretin on the board claiming otherwise, I would however go further and claim that the brain is the seat of our consciousness and more than a computer. Romantics believe our soul is in our heart. Lol. This goes back to our other discussion of the "soul", on which I apologize for getting sidetracked. So the question becomes can consciousness be viewed as separate from our "computer"? Sorry, I don't like a reference to our brain as 'a computer' It so often leads to ridiculous side track conversations about robotics etc as I think I mentioned in the thread to which you refer. It remains however that the brain within the human body as the co-ordinator is THE most sophisticated and complex result of evolution which is why we, and on a sliding scale of pre-humans ( as they developed) got 'sentience' which I see with animals and the vastly more complex consciousness and self awareness that humans have. People who describe it as 'soul' usually have transcendental or religious connotations which I don't subscribe to because its operation is observable and mostly (?) understood by science. Hence I don't believe in an afterlife because when the brain dies, so does the ability to think and everything else that goes with it.

Those 'ignorant', 'primitive' people were a lot healthier than people are today. If we were such a 'progressive' society that knows so much, I doubt big pharma would be making billions of dollars every month. I also doubt modern society would be full of pollution, disease, and obesity. I also doubt our 'superior' society would be destroying the planet.
And you and Faustus are too stupid to grasp the concept that the pyramids weren't just random piles of rocks, and they served a function that your dumb asses can't even begin to understand.

"Those 'ignorant', 'primitive' people were a lot healthier than people are today." They really aren't, life expectancy was considerably shorter centuries ago. Even if you were wealthy, you would maybe make it to your 60s or so. Nowadays even homeless people live longer than that. Would you like to go back to before things like chemotherapy, heart surgery, and polio shots existed? I'll tell you what, next time you get sick instead of taking medicine try using leaches to get the disease out and tell us how that works. "I doubt big pharma would be making billions of dollars every month" You're equating two different things, the science aspect of modern medicine and the shady business practices of pharmaceutical corporations and insurance companies. We could just have the government regulate them from doing such, but you'd probably just call that communism. "I also doubt our 'superior' society would be destroying the planet." Again we could make progressive reforms for environmentalism, but you're probably against that as well.

A diamond is still not a rock. Never has been, never will be. It is a mineral, sorry. Sorry that your education didn't encompass Earth Sciences... It's not your fault, you were let down by your parents and society... Sure as it's a shame right enough, but you are never too old to learn, chin up.
