Sometimes when you are going to sleep and you decide to watch a few funny youtube vids like those of Key and Peele and then the "few" videos you wanted to watch turns out to be too many because those funny vids made you so engaged that you lost your sleep. I don't mean it necessarily has to be funny vids only. It could be any distraction. Say you decide to read about Queen Nefertiti of Egypt on Wikipedia and then from one wiki page to others you go on reading for hours. I know it happens to me many times when I am reading about the dynasties of any ancient civilization.
Or are you a very strict person and if you decide to watch a few vids or read a few pages then you stick to your commitment?

In my time, there have been a few novels that got in the way of a good night's sleep. NOTHING LASTS FOREVER - years later it became DIE HARD MIDNIGHT EXPRESS NOT WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER THE BEACH THE GODFATHER RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA RAMA II THE GARDEN OF RAMA RAMA REVEALED THE STAND

I own the book, the DVD and the soundtrack. Brilliant - from start to finish. I actually saw the film first, then a friend gave me the soundtrack, then I came across the novel.

The IMDB mini plot has made me inquisitive about it. Have added it to my watch-list. I originally had the film on video cassette and the soundtrack on audio cassette as a teenager, but they were both long ago upgraded to DVD and CD. I'm now 51. I've read the book twice, watched the film over 50 times easily, probably more and I listen to sections of the soundtrack daily. My favourite musician won an Oscar for the soundtrack and my favourite piece of music comes from the film. So, I might be just a tad biased in its favour.

Not so much with YouTube videos, funny or otherwise, but with books and with Calcudoku puzzles (also known as 'Kenken'), yes.
The more complex puzzles can take well over one hour to solve.

Had heard about sudoku before but this puzzle that you just mentioned is new to me. Thx. With books it happened to me in the past.

I think it varies from person to person but music is something that can work both ways for me. There are certain kinds of music that have helped me sleep. Although most of the music are sort of distractions. Especially the ones with meaningful lyrics.

Yeah, screen time after midnight if I'm already trying to sleep is like feeding Gizmo. 4 mins online quickly turns to 40, & the rest of my week is shot to hell from one bad sleep.

Yeah, that used to happen to me in my teens and 20s. I was strong enough to stay awake all night or go with minimal sleep. But now I exercise more self-discipline because I really need the sleep. I might allow myself to be distracted 5 or 10 minutes past my usual bedtime.

I'll be online and planning to go to bed in, say, the next 30 minutes. Three hours later, I'm still listening to tunes and googling stuff. The Internet is a terrible distraction for me.

I would say that it happens.
Reading an exciting novel, thinking another chapter can't do any harm.
YT can do that some times too, especially when search some some songs from my youth, and then it can go on for hours the more I find, until you hear the birds sing ouside.

I intentionally set my brain to expect about 2 hours alone winding down time before going to sleep and during those two hours I do all the video watching and/or reading I want, and rarely go outside of that.
I feel like there is not enough good things to watch doe more than 2 hours every day so the alocated time is enough for me.

Hey....It's been almost a year since you made that recommendation but I am watching it today. 30 mins in to the film and it's looking good.
