Got to a screening Tue. There's John Wick 1 violence, John Wick 2 violence, and John Wick 3 violence. Good God, what a thrill ride. Kind of unexpected ending too. Drags a little, and kind of awkward humor sometimes, but man, a shit ton of fun.
Best hand to hand fights in this one, maybe of the decade American movie-wise.

Wnded up going to see Azis Ansari live tonight instead of Wick but going first thing tomorrow! My city usually has screenings for bigger movies, sometimes on Tue or Wed, occasionally Mon. Many of these screenings are public, some press only. But, since I'm also a member of the city's Film Critics Association (think I've mentioned before, just don't like to self-promote), I'll get notified of press screenings and public screenings. Here's our website, cofca.org/, if you click around to certain movies, it's clear who I am lol.

Saw this last night and definitely dug it overall . The action & fight sequences were so fucking on point its not even funny (esp some of the scenes involving Halle Berry's dogs in this). But tbh it wasn't perfect . My biggest complaint is that they didn't wrap things up with this film. I was hoping they would cause I like a beginning , middle and end to a trilogy but the ending clearly makes it seem like they are gonna milk it for all its worth. Keanu will be playing John Wick when he's 60 years old it seems like lol . Still I was througly entertained thru out this film (complaints aside) . Would recommend to fans of action films and Wick fans are gonna love it especially . I will say IMO the 1st John Wick is STILL the best one and holds a special place in my heart the most though.

After JW1 I wanted to become criminal and seriously was convincing my date we go rob a bank or something. also went right back in to see it the second time the same day. did not experienced this kind of high after 2 or 3 but boy was this an awesome action movie. kick ass choreography and cinematography.

Everything was on point with the fight choreography and I loved how gonzo the fights got like with first fight in the library. The action was turned up to 11 in this one. The only thing is the movie comes to a halt whenever Wick isn't on screen and was hoping this would wrap the story up but I'm down for more John Wick is Keanu Reeves is. Mark Dacascos was probably my second favorite thing about the film. He looked like he was having the time of his life.

The Wick films get more inventive with their concepts but worse at storytelling with each installment. A lot of the action was poorly directed in this one, too many minions standing around waiting to get hit and people struggling to hit their marks. Some of the scenes went on too long. That last fight with the two guys and then the big boss became tedious after a while. I thought it was dumb how Wick was wasting ammunition on goons who were clearly killed by the first shot, made him look less badass and more like an amateur. Even by action film standards, him surviving the fall at the end is ridiculous. Fishburne's character should also be dead. Ultimately it felt like there were no stakes to this film. Everyone literally ends up back where they started. Fishburne runs an outlaw program, Winston still runs the Continental and Wick is still on the run from the org. He lost a finger for a plotline that went nowhere; he fought his way to the top of the org only to cut his finger off and then immediately disobey them. Not sure what the point of that was, other than to endanger his friends who helped him along the way.
Even his friends didn't pay much of a price. The ballet director got stabbed through the hands and Sofia got nothing so far as we know. Winston disobeyed the org and Charon actively fought them without reprisal. The sets were great (especially the inner sanctum of the Continental) and the fights were a blast early on, but it did become tiresome and repetitive after a while. At its best it's incredibly fun, but the story beats are weak and the poor directing in some of the action sequences is distracting. A franchise with this many good ideas and actors shouldn't be bogged down by mediocre execution. I'll go 6/10 for something that could've or even should've been at least an 8.

I hear you and admit that I too noticed people “waiting around” to strike. Unlike at previous John Wicks. And I was Very disappointed to see that as I feel like thats a trademark bad action directing. BUT - Stahelski is a Supreme Master Action director And choreographer And Stuntman and he spent months preparing each action scene and years in training. He wouldnt allow this Unless there was a reason for it to be there. My conclusion is based on the specific statement of a few of the assasins in this movie about what honor it was for them to fight John even if they were to die. And how they openly allowed hon to compose himself several times. So to me this was all done intentionally to show the chivalry and honor even between assasins or many of them. What supports my thesis on this is the fact u couldnt see this in the previous installments when it wasnt assasins pitted to kill their own perse, it was John against the people who killed his dog and John against those who were after him as a result of the distorted power striggle . But this all changed in the third chapter. The fall result I explain by the special upgraded suit remember he got?

You can use head canon to make that stuff work, I just thought it was Keanu being old so they had to work at his speed. Body armor isn't going to protect you from the total body trauma he suffered in that fall, but whatever it's an action movie I guess. I still think there was a ton of fun stuff in the movie, it's not like I think it was bad overall. I'd just prefer it to be trending up instead of down, especially if we're going to get a 4th installment teased at the end.
