Meh... I would argue that they SW filmmakers are fulfilling fan expectations.
After all no one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans and it seems the current trilogy is gathering the expected amount of hate.

Yes, fans complained about the Prequel Trilogy at the time. But The Last Jedi so alienated the fanbase that Solo lost money, a first for the Star Wars series.

I wasn't particularly of the Last Jedi but that being said, I still think it was better than the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. In any case, I massively enjoyed the Force Awakens so I'm still rooting JJ and the final chapter of the new trilogy. I haven't seen Solo yet, but the way I see it, Solo was always going to be problematic because it was going to a challenge to find someone that could replace Harrison Ford.

In any case, I massively enjoyed the Force Awakens so I'm still rooting JJ and the final chapter of the new trilogy. The Last Jedi, and Lucasfilm's reaction to its backlash, have me disinterested in seeing any future Star Wars films. I have no plans to see Episode IX. I haven't seen Solo yet, but the way I see it, Solo was always going to be problematic because it was going to a challenge to find someone that could replace Harrison Ford. I haven't seen Solo yet either, nor do I care to. I wrote a detailed breakdown of the reasons Solo failed back when the movie was released. So quoting my earlier post: - Fans did not like Kathleen Kennedy's and Rian Johnson's approach to the franchise, which disrespected both the OT characters and fans of the OT.
- Lucasfilm refused to acknowledge any criticism, no matter how valid, and instead responded by attacking their customers.
- The reviews were lukewarm. At this writing, the All Critics Score at Rotten Tomatoes is 70%, the Audience Score is 62%, and the Top Critics Score is a rotten 59%.
- Competition. Given #1-3 above, why see "Solo" when you could see the certified fresh "Avengers: Infinity War" or "Deadpool 2"? I saw "Deadpool 2" on Friday and had a great time.
- Poor Marketing. The trailers and ads did not make "Solo" look like a must see movie.

So Disney just want cultists who will accept anything they give us now. It's what Lucas was banking on with the prequels

If it hadn't been for the fans, the Star Wars Franchise wouldn't have lasted as long as it did.
