Are you familiar with the concept of a "chain of custody" or "chain of evidence"? For the sake of discussion, let's focus here on the Bible and the teachings of the ministers of your faith, and let's examine the strength of the claims of validity of the Bible and the teachings of the faith leaders in terms of chain of custody. Claim: The Bible is true because it was written by holy* people. We know this because holy people tell us it was written by holy people. Holy people also tell us what the stuff that is written in the Bible means. We know they are holy because they are ordained by other holy people.Question #1: Are all people who are supposed to be holy really holy? How can you tell? Question #2: Why does God let some people who do very unholy things (by their own standards) portray themselves as, and be portrayed by other holy people as, His messengers? Question #3: If we can see with our own eyes that there are people today doing very unholy things who claim to be holy (or who have been held up as being holy by others), isn't it possible that there were people in the past who claimed to be holy but were not holy? And isn't it possible that (at least some of) the people who wrote the holy books and who made up the sacred teachings were not actually holy? * imdb2.freeforums.net/post/2715166/thread
