And it wasn't scary at all. I asked the stranger next to me, a little over an hour into the movie, when it's supposed to get scary and he said "I don't know. I'm just waiting for the movie to end."
Also, besides it being full of so much boredom, it was full of so much stupidity as well. And I didn't guess the ending, as in knowing fore sure that it was going to happen, but when there was about 40 or so minutes left I said to myself "Oh watch it be.......and it would be so stupid." and then it happened.
Also the ending, besides what happens to the main characters, is weird as f***.
And on Rottentomatoes it has 183 Fresh reviews and only 11 Rotten reviews...I think those critics are either being paid or don't want to seem racist since Jordan Peele won an Oscar for his other screenplay.

I liked it a lot but realize some things "don't click." Marvelous direction, outstanding acting from the family (I loved Kaluuya but if he can get a nomination, I think Nyong'o should receive one too), great score and use of licensed music. Didn't think the script was as airtight as Get Out but I love that Peele did something different and maybe some more things will click upon a rewatch. It's never boring to me and this one does lean more towards horror (though it isn't bone-chilling), even if I think Get Out is a better movie overall.
7.5/10.

This is excellent news, because you can be utterly depended upon to get everything you post about completely wrong regardless of the subject matter, which means this movie is bound to be great. Thanks--I will have to check it out!

it has a black cast and black directer so the SJW critics feel obliged to give it good reviews. so glad to hear it sucks saves me a few bucks seeing this at a cinema.

I agree in your opinion of the movie, but not your theory on why critics are giving it good ratings. I think it's getting such positive review for two reasons: 1) when a director gets the "genius" label, some critics are afraid of being the odd man out in giving their movies a bad rating; 2) many times critics conflate a movie making no sense with a movie being "smart".

As a word of advice, never use terms like SJW or diversity when criticising films or shows. No matter how legitimate your criticisms or issues may be, you'll just never look good using those terms. The best way to judge art is always on its own merits, never by perceived notions regarding who created it or others who are judging it. As for the film in question, I still want to see it and form my own opinion.

User reviews seem to be mixed. I may wait on this one. Bummer, I was hoping it would be great!

I read where some critics said it was better than A Quiet Place, which I loved. But I thought Get Out was over-hyped, so I'll watch it without any high expectations.

But I thought Get Out was over-hyped, so I'll watch it without any high expectations. its better visually and it had more opportunities for the actors to do something really special but I enjoyed Quiet Place much more. I did like the first 20 and last 10 minutes of Us a lot. The in between was visually stunning but not really scary or funny. “Just” well shot and acted. Loved the endig though, although not sure i fully got it, will have to read up on it. 7/10 from me. Mostly for the dancing sequence and the overall choreography and physicality of the acting. ps - I agree with the OP about the movie not being scary. It was, for a brief moment when they showed up and stood in the garden. Once they are in the house and say the first sentence or two its kinda over. also, what a useless father! ps2: wanna see a real horror Masterpiece? Watch Hereditary.

I'm not fan of Hereditary, just overrated and has dislikable characters with no personality and mediocre writing, i'm no fan of A24 but at least they try to do something different but fail in my opinion. Now Quiet Place and Mandy are 2018 horror films i like better than that! i mean they have likable characters i give a damn about and all that. The acting was good in US and had some decent thrills and ideas but went off the rails with the dumb twist and ending, Get Out was much better. I do appreciate audiences are making US a hit and it's doing something different in the mainstream horror genre, it's at least something different than another pointless remake like Poltergeist, another book adaptation like IT, another sequel/remake/reboot of an already dead horse franchise (Halloween or Elm Street or Friday The 13th or Saw or Scream or Texas Chainsaw Massacre) as it's something different even in mainstream horror

I liked Alex Wolfs character a lot. the mother was hard to like i agree but she was So Well written. As a grieving mother stuck in a toxic relationship with her crazy mother who damaged her all her lide and keeps on doing it from after death too. perfect. such an achievement in horors. A24 to me means very high chance of me liking the movie. I agree the twist was kinda lame and made certain things much less plausible seeming. Mandy was great but talk about hard to watch

I thought it was pretty good. It got a little silly kind of early on but I didn't mind.
I dont get why the mom got to meet her evil doppelganger early in childhood though when it seems like everyone else happened all at once on that day.

Their movies have this way of being rather bland no matter what happens on screen. It could be something exciting or something that is supposed to be jarring - like a headless corpse floating up to the treehouse Hereditary – which is comes also anti-climatic. Ex Machina, The Witch, and the Disaster Artist were good though. I liked The Lobster too from what I remember of. They make a lot of boring horror movies IMO.

I could not agree more! Two hours felt like four. The most tedious movie I have seen in a long time. And yes this is the times of the SJWs we live in. ALL black cast, always good. Black director, always good, PC gay characters, always good!
