I think she's rather homely myself. I'd much rather a painting of Helen Roper hanging in my wall, her curly orange hair and her brightly colored mumus and her costume jewelry and her gin on the rocks.

I am an artist myself, I minored in Art History and the Italian Renaissance was an amazing time. And yes, it is beautiful. Da Vinci was a genius.

I might have told you before that I was extremely poor in arts in my school days. Exceptionally poor I might say. But to some degree, I do enjoy watching the arts of others.
As for my views about Mona Lisa or any great painting in general - I personally believe that the value of certain great works of art could be realized more by a certain group of people. Those who have either above average artistic ability or those who can discern something unique in a work of art that not everyone can discern. Mona Lisa is 600 years old work. Out of 100000s of arts that have been drawn in the long time period only a few have attracted as much attention as the Mona Lisa. I personally don't have the ability to see what is it that makes it so good but I do believe it is not just an average piece of art. It does look special even if the woman in the picture is not that beautiful.

Here's part of the background...Mona Lisa significance in the Renaissance era The most recognizable piece of Leonardo Da Vinci’s that shows that he is an ideal Renaissance man is the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa shows the Renaissance ideals of secularism, realism, and individualism. The Mona Lisa shows secularism because it is a portrait of a women and does not have anything do with God. Also...It was the first painting done in sfumato, meaning no extreme darks or lights. Very glazed painting. Source(s): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SfumatoAdditionally...The Mona Lisa also employs several Renaissance techniques: forward-facing eyes which give the always-looking-at-you effect, the landscape, the secular individual, the hair down to suggest eroticism, etc.

But the Mona Lisa is only famous because it was stolen in 1911 and recovered two years later. Your best nonsense post yet !
