It's a bit early but I was gonna post this information anyway so may as well just make this the main thread rather than make another later. deadline.com/2019/04/avengers-endgame-u-s-opening-weekend-projections-can-sequel-get-close-to-300m-1202588329/"While conservative tracking suggests Avengers: Endgame is within $200 million-$250 million for its opening weekend at the domestic box office, some analysts this morning believe that after the gonzo first-day record pre-sales for the Russo Brothers’ sequel that the pic certainly has a good shot getting north of $260M. That would make it the highest-grossing domestic opening of all-time (beating Infinity War‘s already record of $257.6M). Endgame’s three-day nearing $300M isn’t out of the realm of possibility." I'd have considered it a major achievement if this even beat Infinity Wars opening at all but for it to fly past it and get close to $300 million would be something else. It wouldn't just be the highest but also the highest with inflation beating The Force Awakens. I can still remember the surprise when Spider-Man 3 opened to $150 million. www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=marvel2019.htm

Oh and some news from UK also.
"According to Applaudience - a platform that collects real-time admission data by cinema, venue, auditorium and showtime - the film has already made £6,260,602 at the UK box office as of today (April 5).
They also revealed to Mirror Online that Avengers: Endgame has sold more tickets in pre-sales than Captain Marvel did on its opening day on Friday (435,000 + tickets sold)."

That's too little, that's less than Age of Ultron. It'd need to have some kind of Last Jedi backlash for that to ever happen.

I could only see a problem if Captain Marvel ends up being so OP that she ends up handing Thanos his ass when everyone else failed together in the last one.
But I doubt it would be that dramatic.

The recent clip with her being cocky got me thinking that Thanos is going to wreck her. Makes sense since that clip is supposed to around the 30 minute mark of the film.

The recent clip with her being cocky got me thinking that Thanos is going to wreck her. So Endgame is basically going to be like a WWE script, like how Ronda Rousey was cocky before WrestleMania and then got her ass kicked at WrestleMania?

Except that the WWE is a joke, and the MCU is on an amazing streak of critical and commercial success.

It should be a more interesting year in general because last year it was almost a given that Infinity War would be the biggest of 2018.
I don't know if this will be the biggest of 2019 though. It's got a chance but after seeing the new trailer, I really thing The Lion King could beat it.
It'll probably make more than Star Wars because of how people felt about the last one and Frozen and Toy Story but I don't know about Lion King.
