It should be a more interesting year in general because last year it was almost a given that Infinity War would be the biggest of 2018. I don't know if this will be the biggest of 2019 though. It's got a chance but after seeing the new trailer, I really thing The Lion King could beat it. It'll probably make more than Star Wars because of how people felt about the last one and Frozen and Toy Story but I don't know about Lion King. I’m the opposite. While I did predict at the end of last year that TLK would be the biggest film of 2019, I no longer think that’s going to be the case.

The Lion King is a very popular musical that had a long and successful run on Broadway. It's going to be huge and going to be the #1 movie of 2019.

Yeah well you only need to look at how much money the Beauty and the Beast live action movie made and The Lion King has always been the far more popular movie. Even the 3D release was #1 and that made double the 3D Beauty and the Beast. It's even the best selling home video ever. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_films_in_the_United_StatesI don't think it's guaranteed to beat Endgame or anything but I'd be surprised if they weren't the Top 2. Frozen third and then Toy Story 4 or Star Wars for fourth and fifth.

Wow! I would never ever in my wildest dream have believed that I will see the day when the butthurt clan will suppport and sell their souls for another movie to beat the next MCU tear bringer (to them), and that this movie would be another Disney movie. MIND-BLOWING! Lower than that is only the planet's liquid hot core...
Ha, ha... As things have been going the last eleven years I wouldn't be surprised at all if I see in the future these same characters praying to the Gods they don't believe in for MCU Howard the Duck to beat Black Panther 3... The options seem limited no matter what they believe or hope for...

I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if The Lion King or Frozen 2 made more money than this. Compose yourself fanboy.

"Batman v Superman will surpass The Avengers' $1.5B" -DCFan "Doctor Strange, a November movie about a character no one knows or cares about, will fail." -DCFan "Captain America: Civil War will not make $1billion" -DCFan "Infinity War looks like a complete mess" "Infinity War definitely won't gross $2 billion. Only Avatar, Titantic, and The Force Awakens have reached $2 billion." "Infinity War won't be the highest grossing MCU movie." "Black Panther's foreign box office won't beat Wonder Woman's foreign box office either." "Justice League will easily pass The Avengers at the box office.

If the shot-for-shot-not-even-actually-live-action remake of an iconic classic like Lion King beats out Endgame we should all be ashamed of ourselves.

The original The Lion King was only 88 minutes which would be too short now. They'll probably make it about 2 hours again and add a whole bunch of scenes like what was done for Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book. Well I hope they do anyway.

deadline.com/2019/04/avengers-endgame-china-presales-record-1202594805/Avengers: Endgame presales in China have skyrocketed to record heights within the first few hours. According to Maoyan Box Office System, Endgame sold over 1 million tickets in the first six hours after they went on sale Friday local time. This is a record for all movies in the Middle Kingdom; not even a Chinese New Year title has crossed the 1M admission level in the same amount of time. What’s more, Endgame topped the first 24 hours of Avengers: Infinity War within just the first hour of presales. In its first three hours, the latest Disney/Marvel superhero epic overtook the first seven days of presales on Infinity War.

This has got to be the biggest opening weekend world wide and it will probably take the biggest 2nd weekend too. After that it might also be the biggest front loaded movie of all time if the legs fall out. SHEESh.

I'm still shocked that Infinity War with it's $2,048b gross revenue paid for Infinity War and Endgames production budgets. Their Production budget was supposed to be 1 billion together. (Altho Wikipedia is now putting IW production budget at 300-400m)
I know some will bring up the Marketing Budget, but shit picking up a supposedly $1 billion dollar Production budget in 1 film is still astounding.

Ok, I don't know if you have seen this, but this is the best estimation of revenue and costs you can find for Infinity War which does not come from Disney's direct accounting books. Hope it helps. deadline.com/2019/04/avengers-infinity-war-profit-box-office-2018-1202591380/

Wow $500 million in profit. They've also got Black Panther at $476 million too.
Deadpool 2 at $235 million, Venom at $247 million and Aquaman at $260 million.

I think it's a lock for top 4 all time.
I've got my ticket, Fri April 26, 10:30am. 2D. I'm treating that as my 'witnessing' the film, so as to pre-empt spoilers I can't get through the wkend. I'll watch it with more casual enjoyment a week or so later on.

I've seen the production budget for Infinity War and Endgame estimated at 300m-500m a pop. IW alone covered both IW and EG's production budget. It will probably cover the marketing budget for both in the first 2 days. After that pure profit. (well half the grosses.)
