This is really sad. I wanted a real sequel of Conan the Barbarian. But no, Hollywood screw it up.

Now there's suggestions that a tv series is in the works. In this day and age, with stuff like GoT, that could work.

I'd be down for that, there's plenty of material for a TV series with the original stories, comic lines, etc. They just have to be sure to stay closer to the source material than the movies did, no offense to Arnold but his Conan was pretty much Conan-in-name-only. Didn't even have striking blue eyes( An important feature if you read the original stories).

I feel nothing but smugness about this development, because it's a slap int he face to all those Conan trolls that used to barrage the Lord of the Rings boards with crap like "LOL you stupid Christians who like Lord of the Rings have had your day, but now it's time for us Red Pills to have ours' with the rise of King Conan." So it was nothing short of satisfactory to watch the new Conann movie flop and now have this happen.

I remember you explaining to me elsewhere (LOTR board) that Tolkien himself was religious, but... I'm confused. I know I bust your balls a lot, but for the record I'm genuinely asking. I've never heard of any kind of LOTR rivalry, frankly, with any other sect of fandom except the occasional comparisons to Star Wars and the bizarre and more or less one-sided attacks on the Middle Earth stuff by Harry Potter fans about a decade ago that fizzled quickly after Hallows and were never very vocal to begin with. Then again, I honestly hadn't heard there was a new Conan movie, so it appears I am out of touch with the zeitgeist.

I'm disappointed, but mainly because Conan will never be free of Arnold now, as far as live-action is concerned. He needed to give his version a proper send-off like Jackman's Logan. Then hopefully they could've done another version in a few years which was closer to the original stories (and comics). There, Conan fans of all kinds are happy.
The Jason Momoa movie was a bit closer, but only as far as he didn't grow up as a slave then as a gladiator. But the plot and direction wasn't nearly as good as the first film which was also an origin/revenge quest story. How hard is it to do a film where he's just a rogue and there's no save the world plot?

So Arnold's new Conan is not happening. Arnold is not going to be in the new Predator movie. And it looks like Arnold's next Terminator film is also not happening.
Is this the end of Arnold's "revival"??

Man. Years ago, Frank Darabont wanted to do a Conan reboot with Jon Bernthal as a "smarter, wittier" Conan, going back to the original Weird Tales. After seeing Bernthal as the Punisher, I'd pay to see that.

No shock. Arnie's movie career is not what it once was. Arnie will probably go back to politics.
