I actually think it will happen. Not the whole movie but they'll cheat. It'll be a sequel for 60, 70 percent of the film but also include a lot of flashbacks either to the 1930s or the 1940s. Those moments we'll be seeing them work that magic.

I'd like it if the new one took place acouple years before KOTCS. Then Indy could have a new love interest, he wouldn't yet know he has a son, Mac could be his partner again and Sean Connery could cameo as his father.

By the time it rolls around in 2021, assuming that it does, canonically it'd be taking place around 1969, 1970. He'd be about 78 or so.

Connery wouldn't come back for the last one and who gives a shit about Mac? He was a terrible character that made zero sense. Jones wouldn't let the guy hang around to keep double crossing him.

I'm pretty sure Connery was game to return. Something about it being a cameo but Spielberg thought that would shortchange the audience who, he thinks, would have wanted him for the whole adventure. I would have been fine with a cameo. Also a grown Short-Round cameo at the wedding would have been nice.

He's retired, he's not coming back for another Indiana Jones movie. And we don't need to see everyone from every Indy movie anyway.
They should just do something new. I don't get why people want the same thing over and over.

That and seeing Sallah too. It was weird he wasn't there. So far as I know, he's still alive at that point.
