Wouldn't when the kids have to wake up or how old they are fit into the equation?

No man 8 is to early these kids are in school like all day they don't get home till like 4 it's only 4 hours to do a lot of shit I would say 10:00 makes more sense cause you still get 8 hours of sleep.

Absolutely no exceptions. Children need structure. Remember, you're the parent. If they don't like it, too fucking bad. It depends upon the age of the child and several other factors, including the whether it's a weeknight or the weekend and the amount of homework they have. To be honest, you sound like you're either not a parent or if you are, you're an extremely inexperienced one.

If they’re responsible enough, I’ll give them at least one extra hour.

I believe the OP is joking but tend to agree that it seems many parents are too lenient. Why should a 3-6 year old go to bed at 10? Whats the rationale behind it? 8 it is. It doesnt mean they have to fall asleep right away. Play with a toy read a book, whatever, just stay in bed and go to sleep by 9 or so. 7-13 i would say 9 and go to sleep by 10. 14-16 - 10 to sleep by 11. 17 and onwards, all hope is lost; just please come home on most nights

Agreed, you wouldn't want them to be late to the show.

It's 8:27pm here. Just saw a couple carrying their 3 year old into Walmart. Parenting fail. No exceptions, you idiots! Structure! I still can't see what the point of the early bedtime would be unless the family needed to be early risers. I wouldn't put a 3 year old who was awake before 9 unless I wanted the kid to wake me up at 5 or 6. Maybe the 'structure' is the kid goes to bed at 10 and wakes up at 7.
