1)Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) - 7.5-8/10 (a classic. there are not many straight comedies that stand out, but this is one of the few that do. it's within my Top 92 movies in general.) 2)The Breakfast Club (1985) - 7/10 (the #1 teen themed movie in general and within my Top 172 movies) 3)Uncle Buck (1989) - 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) -)-Sixteen Candles (1984) (NOTE: I just finished seeing this for pretty much the first time today (Apr 15th). although I am pretty sure I seen a little bit or piece of this on TV years ago but never seen it from start to finish til a moment ago) 5)Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - 5/10 (Thumbs Down) (this movie is overrated. it worked better when I was younger as I no longer like it as of a re-watch on July 12th 2015. but prior to that viewing it was a solid movie for me for years. but I think, like others have said, that character is a bit annoying now.) p.s. maybe ill get around to seeing Weird Science (1985) eventually.
side note: I noticed that IMDb shows Sixteen Candles (1984) as 'PG' but it's obviously R rated. because early on I noticed a F word and I was thinking how in the hell that slipped in and then it kept on going with the language etc and then nude scene.
Only by this messed up recent generation.

Toasted CheeseI see what you mean given the context it was shown. still, even if you put that aside... the language is enough to push it more R than PG for sure since PG is more of a kids thing and a movie like that is clearly closer to adults than it is kids. hence, my claim of it being more R than PG. because normally when you think "PG" you think pretty much anyone can watch it. but that's definitely not the case with Sixteen Candles (1984) which is closer to adult range than kids at the very least.

Don't take this as a reflection on directing. The scripts are the worst in history, and they're directed as well as can be.
A lot of directors purposely take the worst scripts to try to make into something. You have to admit the three I rate are totally uninspired in writing, and he tries to fool us with tactical directing, but it flops completely. Sure, it fools the sheep and the crack heads, but no one else. His movies have zero inspiration, and inspire zero.
Uncle Buck 3/10
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 2/10
The Breakfast Club 1/10, a waste of great music and good directing tactics. It's clearly told from the point of view of one student, who spends the entire movie turning everyone else into clichés.
