I have often dismissed in the past some concerns that some hardcore fans have with inconsistencies. For example when Enterprise premiered, there were people who hated that the ship looked more modern than Kirk's Enterprise even though the story took place decades earlier. I thought that was a ridiculous complaint, and that those who were making it were idiots.
Now with Discovery I am wondering if I am doing the same thing I criticised in others before. A perfect example is the big space battle in the season 2 finale. To the best of my recollection, space battles in all previous incarnations of Star Trek were always fought with ships firing phasers and photon torpedoes at each other - NOT with dozens of shuttles and pods flying around and having dogfights, as in Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. All of a sudden, Discovery and Enterprise and the Section 31 ships have hundreds of small fighter crafts flying around during battles.

I consider that to be a legitimate issue with the episode, how many Shuttles and pods did the Discovery & Enterprise have? I found the sheer number to be totally implausible.

Not really as it makes sense, the moaning of Enterprise's Enterprise looking more fancy is a silly one, yes it looks better because production allows for it to look better, deal with it, but in the story it was still far inferior to the ships of TOS like the TOS ships are inferior to those of TNG-Voyager.
But with the dog fight stuff it makes no sense, this is something they didn't do in Enterprise, TOS, TNG, DS9 or Voyager, Section 31 having those ships made sense atleast but Discovery or Enterprise having them was silly, why did they fight like that then but never again in the past or future? also why did they have so many? in the future much larger ships like Enterprise-D had I just looked apparently up to if you assume each is different 37 shuttles in total, and that ship was meant to be 8 times the size of TOS Enterprise, how did they have like 200 shuttles? as it's not like in the future they are huge by comparison, most seem the same size, so how did 2 they have over 50 times as many ships with about 1/4 of the space to store them?
They could have just wrote in an excuse like queen what's it commanded a carrier vessel with fighter pods accompany them to the location and fitted them with Starfleet issue controls, but I think you still have an issue of manning the fighters, which doing so took almost 1/3 of the two ships combined crew, and that's if they were manned by a single crew member which I forgot if they were or not.
All in all I think it's a fair issue to have with the episode.
