This is sort of apropos of nothing, but watching Oliver at the top of the episode jump down from however high up he was to street level, reminded me of how his knee was in really bad shape a few years ago; and all he took was, I believe, a cortisone shot - which is only going to help manage the pain in general, and only for so long - yet they've never brought that back up again. I have regular knee pain and not as the result of years of parkour-esque hijinks; and while I've never gotten a cortisone shot, I know others who have for various physical ailments, and there are limits to its effectiveness and it definitely doesn't last forever. There should be no way that Oliver is jumping around the way he does; certainly not without probably having knee surgery and probably some extensive physical therapy and it's never going to be what it used to be.
Ladies and gentlemen, Ernie Hudson. Don't fuck this up, Arrow.
Wait, John's step-dad's last name is Stewart? Is this a wink and nod to the fan theory of John becoming a Green Lantern?
Could they make this whole thing with Connor Hawke any more convoluted? The very first time we met him - played by this very same actor - was on Legends of Tomorrow; where it was revealed he was John Diggle Jr. And that was before Flashpoint changed baby Sara Diggle to baby John. Now he's Connor, yet he's not only John's step-son or foster-son, John Jr exists as a separate person....
With all their tech and Felicity's constant tinkering, you mean to tell me she didn't make John's helmet voice activated for this exact occasion?
Of course John's dad did something shady on their mission that his step-dad was trying to "protect" him from by lying to him. I haven't even gotten to that part of the episode yet, just the part where Felicity says the mission was a success and speculates Stewart was trying to protect John. It's so obvious, it was clear where the story was going the moment John told Oliver how everything went down as far as he knew.
Yeah, I guess power is power, and they definitely didn't risk of either frying John's helmet or not being remotely enough power...
Would the henchman of a super villain/mad scientist be able to recognize that their boss was one of those things? Not strictly saying that Felicity is a mad scientist, but I don't think whats-her-name has the objective authority to say she isn't...
I'd have laughed so hard if, after the Deathstroke lackey came out and said, "JJ has a message for you," and Connor beat him up, the lackey just said, "he said...you're supposed to call your mom...."
Seriously, he goes in and gets the thing they need and the Deathstroke gang wait until well after he leaves to give him him JJ's "message"? What if Connor and Mia hadn't stood there shooting the shit after he came out of the building? Also, what the fuck is up with this dark ass future where John Diggle fucking Jr is a big muckity muck in a Deathstroke gang???
What the hell did I just watch? Felicity tracks down Archer - which, I'd have paid good money if they had given the Archer AI J. Benjamin Hamm's voice - but then says the Ninth Circle will know they're there the moment they arrive; so General Stewart offers to call in some Marine, but Diggle says, "no, we've got this". Now, first, it wasn't super clear which "we" he was referring to. Obviously there seemed to be some implication of this being the turning moment where he trsuts his step-dad, which made me wonder if Diggle had something in mind for him and Stewart to do that would get them in, but then he and the whole rest of the team starts walking away, suggesting he meant Team Arrow. But that doesn't address the problem Felicity brings up about the Ninth Circle knowing they're there the moment they arrive. It doesn't even achieve anything towards John getting on good terms with Stewart, because even though he says it in a friendly way, he's still turning down help from him that could presumably work to their advantage to have more boots on the ground. I mean, I'm pretty sure even just one or two Marines would be more helpful in this situation than fuckin' "Mad-Dog".
Have they really not settle on how to pronounce Emiko's name? First it was Em-Ee-Ko, then they kind of alternated between that Em-Ick-o (even at least one time in the same episode, by Emiko herself); then for like the last several episodes they appeared to settle on Em-Ick-o, but now in this episode Oliver calls her Em-ee-ko.....
It seems dubious that Archer would be restricted to a single device, instead of the AI being a network unto itself; especially with Felicity being Felicity and also especially seeing as how she was supposed to be able to access it remotely when they were trying to get it back in the first place. Something that complex would not just be on a tablet.
Would it make that much of a difference if Emiko believed that Dante killed her mother? She's kind of been doing some shady shit this whole time, regardless of what she believed happened to her mother; and hasn't shown remorse or interest in turning over a new leaf.
Well, at least someone is calling their mother....
Jesus, this scene between Felicity and her henchman (henchwoman? Henchperson? Henchnerd)....it's two times too many Felicities...
"Stop lying and tell me why" - Should that maybe have been a question you ask before shooting him full of arrows? You know, in case he dies before he can respond....
