Not sure how explosives are ridiculous in a world with guns. They are more effective than a gun. So you're saying you can imagine that in the SW universe someone would think of a bow and arrow to put a bomb on, but with the high technology of that universe they couldn't make an explosive bullet? Or have them shoot a high powered laser bolt that explodes upon contact? Are you even trying to use your imagination?
I think it's you who isn't using your imagination. A bow allows for quick use of dozens of different types of arrowhead functions. You can't get that with a gun. You'd have to have multiple types of barrels. For one thing, you can't throw a grenade as far as you can shoot an arrow. For another, it's nowhere close to as accurate. But you're really not seeing the full potential here. We're not just talking about explosives. We're talking about electrical bursts, heat bursts, EMPs, cables, magnetic heads, nets, parachutes, smoke, sonic frequencies, gas/poison, etc., etc. The bow allows for limitless types of weaponry that are immediately accessible. It's actually a shame they haven't brought this to the SW universe yet.

No, because Hawkeye is also ridiculous in the Avengers universe. And Green Arrow is ridiculous in the DC universe.
Let me prove to you why bow's and arrow's are ridiculous in any reality where guns exist: Do you see any modern army still using them? If you want a silent weapon put a silencer on a gun/rifle. I rest my case.
Bow and arrow is just used in movies because it LOOKS cool. But it doesn't REALLY make sense. While you're reaching for and arrow and pulling your bowstring, I'll have pulled my trigger several times.
A suppressor isn't anywhere near as quiet in real life as it is in the movies, let alone compared to a bow. But you're right, bows for superheroes are antiquated. It's a throwback to the golden age of Robin Hood stories and it just looks fun onscreen. It's true that a suppressor is not as quiet as movies make them out. But on a rifle from 100 yards away, I doubt you'd hear it at all.
Yes, the bow and arrow on superheroes is an old throwback. But, as with most old throwbacks, its one that needs to be re-addressed and modernized. For example, give the character other abilities to counter the low power level of a bow and arrow.
SNL did a great skit about the subject when Jeremy Renner hosted. In the skit the Avengers are about to go into action and Hawkeye simply runs out of arrows.
But even with the characters like Hawkeye and Green Arrow I'm willing to suspend my disbelief a little because those characters choose the bow and arrow because they're trying to find non-lethal methods of taking down criminals. They're trying to incapacitate, not kill. On a street level criminal it might be affective.
My problem comes in when they're up against Thanos and Galactus. Did you notice Hawkeye kicking much ass then?

To be fair, Cap isn't kicking much ass against Thanos without Mjolnir. I think the neat thing about superhero teams are the different skill/power sets. Thor would kill footsoldiers or street criminals by accident, probably a good idea to have a 'street level' guy on the team to deal with that stuff. I agree with your premise that bows are largely useless against serious foes (though he does have some goofy trick arrows, no different from Batman's utility belt in that regard), but I enjoy archers for their old fashioned charm.

She's a new character, she gets a different weapon. Chewie has a crossbow, Han used a blaster, Luke used a light saber, Rey used a staff, Boba Fett and his dad used all kinds of contraptions...new girl gets something new. They should have put a bow and arrow in Rose's hands; might have made her appealing.

To be fair, Cap isn't kicking much ass against Thanos without Mjolnir. Speaking of which, whatever happened to Mjolnir? Cap and Mjolnir left for the past; Mjolnir never resurfaced. it would be totally badass if Cap's exploits in the past were briefly shown in an upcoming movie and someone was shown to have stolen it or somehow become the new owner.

I assumed he brought it back to where/when it belonged and that was the end of it. Possible story opportunities for sure, though.

He brought the shield back to the park, but not Mjolnir. Cap's not the type to keep it for himself, in his closet. I want answers!

It makes "some" sense, but yes, primarily for the cool appearance. 😎
