So, on another thread, I told my story of my measure of proof, my survival of cancer due to advances in medical science. I was told it was off-topic and no comment would be made on my measure of proof. I will edit this to quote my original post. This was in response to heeeeey , who clearly has chosen YouTube over "Big Pharma".

Ouija board, every time ๐
Having said that, I live with heart failure, and use a daily cocktail of modern medical drugs to keep me alive ๐ค
Mumbo jumbo or modern medicines... It's so hard to choose ๐คจ

Yes, I'm not putting my life in the hands of some crazy cat lady and her herbal Oriental remedy she heard from her Mahjong buddy.

While medical science can't guarantee you everything, you stand a much higher chance of correct treatment of any problem with legitimate doctors. Even if a reputed doctor has a put a vid on youtube one should still get a face to face prescription by a doctor.
Youtube is good for entertainment purposes and educational purposes if the videos are uploaded by qualified people. But it should not be used as a place where you get advice for any health-related issue.

I usually leave things until I'm seriously sick, and possibly dying before I decide to consult a doctor.

Big pharma makes billions per month. Do you think they want cures for disease? Think of all the people that would be out of a job, from doctors all the way to a multitude of other industries that depend on it. I know this is an old article, but I think it still applies: www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2006/8/report_death/Page-01Plus, through the course of my job, I have been appalled by some of the things I have heard confidentially. I don't believe the Hippocratic oath applies anymore.

Well, let us know when to do a R.I.P. thread for you!

And I am glad they extended my life; we all die, it's just a matter of timing.

The same experience here. My parents were "murdered" by doctors.

But it should not be used as a place where you get advice for any health-related issue. Yeah, I've poo-poo'd YouTube completely before over peer reviewed scientific papers and books, but you can find videos by experts giving university lectures or experts doing very qualified explanatory work on YouTube, so that's almost as good as a serious paper. PBS science, for instance, is a great, educational channel with legitimate and serious science. At least in these cases they aren't self editing amateurs, which is 99% of the rest of the channels, and the kind of bullshit that impresses know-nothings like Heeeyyy, Maya, and Erjen.

It's so hard to choose ๐คจ Yeah, LOL! I do think your vegan diet has helped. Good for the heart, and the body. No cruelty, no animal fat, no drug-resistant strains of bacteria or hormones added for growth, it's all good. Now, do be careful with that Ouija board, I've heard some bad guy named Pazuzu travels around on that thing!

Without medical science, Catwoman would be dead. How is Catwoman doing in rehab? Is Miko still giving her purr therapy?

Without medical science, Catwoman would be dead. How is Catwoman doing in rehab? Is Miko still giving her purr therapy? Catwoman is making slow progress. It's odd perhaps to think of being able to shift her position when she gets uncomfortable rather than calling for help as progress. She has a long road yet before she came come home. Alas, what with Catman being sick with the cough/cold thing he caught at the nursing facility, Miko was unable to visit this past weekend. But she has been choosing to sleep in Catwoman's chair quite a lot.

Alas, what with Catman being sick with the cough/cold thing he caught at the nursing facility, Miko was unable to visit this past weekend. But she has been choosing to sleep in Catwoman's chair quite a lot. Oh, I understand the slow progress thing, my mother, 96, is in a facility and it was finally decided she had to stay. She got pneumonia while in the facility, and it set her back on rehab so far that it isn't possible for her to go home again. I tried to make it happen in time for her 96th birthday, but that was during the polar vortex and no way she could go home during that. By the time the weather had eased up, her window of opportunity had closed. She probably would have ended up at the facility again, but I wanted her to have a few weeks of being in her own home one last time. Mother Nature didn't cooperate. You take care of yourself, and be careful at that facility. They've got some pretty tough germs, there, so lots of handwashing is in order. And as always, hug everybody for me!
