My Aunt Helen and Uncle Owen lived in Preston, Idaho. Where? The place Napoleon Dynamite was filmed. My aunt and uncle have been gone about 50 years so they didn't get to watch it being filmed. Heck, they were both gone when the writer and director of the film, Jared Hess, was born in Preston. It was low budget costing $400,00 to make in a 23 day shoot. Sometimes it is mentioned as being part of "LDS Cinema" even though the Mormon church is never mentioned. Preston is very Mormon and undoubtedly many characters in the movie would have been members of that church. The people making it were mainly Mormon.

Ugh, never could get into it. As much as everyone else did anyway.

I like it. It was a feel-good movie.

Absolute dreck. One of the worst things ever made. When it came out I told a co-worker that I did not understand its appeal. She said that was because I was not a teenage boy. She had two teenage sons at the time.

I know someone who worshiped this movie and repeated the dialogue ad nauseaum. But I guess for her it felt like nostalgia for her generation. I could not relate being a few years older.
My Bodyguard was more up my alley. Joan Cusask seemed so nice in that. Little did we know then she would end up warped by marriage to Tim Robbins.

Absolute dreck. One of the worst things ever made. Then don't vote for Pedro.
